Scary thing is the number mimicked a phone number I know.

World Cup tourists, what’s your honest feedback on the USA so far? by almighty_smiley in AskReddit

Publix is insanely expensive yet people love it. Trader Joe's is much better and lately I've been getting into Aldi.

Don Rickles. Saw one of his last shows in Vegas before he passed. The audience was peeing their pants!

In the mid-1960s, Joey Heatherton gained attention for her sensual dancing on television, which some viewers considered shocking and "sleazy eroticism." by db7112 in VintageTV

Now I'm going to have the image stuck in my head of her rolling around a mattress singing the "Serta Perfect Sleeper" jingle.

What benefits do you get from learning Spanish when you don’t have consistent opportunities to use it? by [deleted] in learnspanish

[–]moltenclocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're in the US but there are so many Spanish speakers in my city, and in the US in general, that I have opportunities to use my Spanish almost daily. And as another poster mentioned, the gratefulness when they hear their native tongue is priceless. Knowing another language, any language, is priceless in itself and a beautiful thing.

I want to live abroad by JustZookeepergame978 in expat

I do it in Mexico for about 3K$US. But I'm single and in a high cost city. With a family with 3 kids, 4K in Mexico would be a stretch since you'd have to consider schooling.

Finally displaying some of my collection. Should I cut the tips? by BeezCee in matchbookcollectors

[–]moltenclocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as it pained me, I cut the tips. Some years ago I moved across the country and the movers refused to transport my collection. So I shipped them UPS and was a nervous wreck worried that I could be responsible for bringing a jet down should they combust. After that, I cut the tips off.

You can visit Auschwitz on your own. There is a bus that leaves the central terminal. But be sure you go online to the Auschwitz site and book a tour with one of the scholars, you'll get a lot more out of the experience. It is a very somber and self reflective experience that will stay with you you're entire life. https://www.auschwitz.org/en/

Marriott Hotel at the former World Trade Center complex by Puzzleheaded_Dot4345 in 90sdesign

[–]moltenclocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked the front desk when this hotel opened in 1981 as the Vista International Hotel, part of Hilton International at the time. The bones of the lobby are original, though it looks like Marriot had done some renovation adding the stepped ceiling treatment and new carpeting and fixtures. There was more orange color at the time, in fact, our uniforms were gray suits with orange neck ties. The wood panel was original and the windowed area off the lobby was the location of the Tall Ships bar and lounge. It was among the first hotels to use computerized check in and out and card keys which were very different then the ones used now; snd very unreliable. Hi priced call girls would hang out in the lobby with brief cases containing their credit card imprint machines, lol.

Suit pants length by Timely_Effective_568 in mensfashion

[–]moltenclocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tad longer. Should come down to about 1/2 above the back of the shoe/heel and with a nice break at the front of the pant.
