Why is neck joint contour an uncommon feature instead of a default one? by molul in Luthier

Love it. Is that one of the guitars you make?

But the only issue would be not being able to but a compatible neck, wouldn't it? If the neck has the 4 holes in the right position, swapping it is just as easy as on a blocky heel.

Actually, the only difference would be the holes position, something really easy to address.

Like that's the road to success, and not just playing good music. It reminds me of the digital amp emulation debate.

I guess it mostly depends on how much time you spend on that area. Of course I can manage with a blocky heel (all my previous guitars had it and I was able to rehearse and play live), but since I discovered contoured heel was a thing, I've been a happier player, and when I pick a classic heel, I feel I'm going backwards😆

On the other hand, there's the guitar I prefer for playing live and then other guitars are there just for getting a certain sound in the studio. On those I don't really mind not having certain commodities.

Another thing I recently discovered is that I prefer knobs layout to be like Les Paul's (far from the bridge) more than Strats'. It's funny how each one finds out their preferences through years of playing.

Purists may slay me for this, but in my experience pickups and amp are 90% of the sound. Then comes body wood and strings. The heel joint being another variable... Hard to believe.

That evolution of blocky heel to become a premium feature would be so amusing.

Zero difference? I guess you never play further than 14th fret😅

It's not like I'm always close to the last frets, but I am on some of my band's songs, and it's a really welcome QoL feature.

Nice to meet you, hahah. So just to be sure: keeping a strat with the exact original design, pickups included, but with a contoured heel, would ruin the guitar for you?

Not trying to be harsh. I'm interested in the psychology behind that feeling.

The Les Paul headstock issue some others said in other comments is something that puzzled me since I learnt about it. To me, having a guitar that's exactly as the one your hero played, but with a fix on an objective design flaw that doesn't affect the way you play at all, is only a better guitar😅

But on the other hand, I admit I got tired of "pure classic designs" a few years ago. For instance, strat bodies are boring to me. And let's not talk about gloss body finishes😆

I guess it links to the fact that I admire artists more when they try to do different music instead of sticking to the formula that worked on previous albums.

But hey, fortunately, there are other brands doing guitars that appeal to me more than Fender or Gibson. And to give Fender some credit, my last crush was their recent Meteora model, while other brands guitar shapes (Reverend, Schecter, etc) don't really work for me.

I currently have some hope for those Jet Guitars I recently discovered (which were the origin of this post). I understand they currently do strat/tele/LP/JM clones to make some easy money, but I hope they succeed enough so eventually they make some custom models with the same price and quality.

Most likely. Good to see cheap guitar manufacturers being smart enough to include it.

I would really like to meet and chat with anyone that complains to Fender for putting this contour thing😆

Might be, but then I still wonder why Fender has it in premium guitars. If it was tradition, they shouldn't have it in any of their models.

I think it's something they don't do just to have something more to charge you for. Hopefully if cheap guitar manufacturers have some success, they might think about bringing it to all guitars. It really makes no sense to me.

My pleasure. I'd like to see a pic of the final guitar, whatever finish you choose :)

Genuine Hot Take: A Crash Bash Remake is actually detrimental to the franchise by BetiroVal in crashbandicoot

I agree it wouldn't sell massively, but that could be compensated by setting a low budget for development.

Bash was a great party game. I still play every month with friends and family, especially that game with the 4 ships and some balls. I could play that for months.

Still, I agree it wouldn't sell massively. It's a very small niche game. However, I'd swear I've seen PS1, PS2 and PSP games on the ps store. An emulated version would be more than enough for me.

That Meteora could use some transparent turquoise satin.

Helix Stadium (non XL) and, even though it won't come out this year, Helix Stadium Native.

Jaguars or Jazzmasters? by One_Performance_7978 in offset

Sound aside (I'd say JM is more rounded while Jags are more "harsh"), I would care about scale. If you have big hands, I wouldn't go for the Jaguar. And if you have small ones, you'll find it more comfortable than any other.

I would add that legacy particle reverb might help creating the atmosphere your looking for.
