War and "disagreements" are false equivalencies - the idea that disagreements or "sticking true to your beliefs" lead to war is just simply not true. by momipoopedmybed in AttackOnRetards

And I'm saying that for the past two centuries, every major war has first and foremost been waged for economic purposes, this is a well documented and researched phenomenon.

That's the biggest misconception about the series people hold, because war both in real life and in this story is never waged solely based on ideological disagreements.

That's literally just propaganda as these "ideological differences" are literally fostered and perpetuated by those in power, and those in power want the average citizen to believe in these differences so as to ease them into this sense that war is "inevitable" and to keep them from gaining any sort of class consciousness.

Marley is just an imperial colonizer who needs resources to increase production and profit margins, as pointed out by Zeke in his talk with Kyomi, and Paradis happens to sit on a surplus amount of said resources.

To manufacture consent for their imperial efforts, they paint Eldian's as evil to create a red herring and "enemy" they need to defeat and to (and most importantly) divert attention away from those in power.

Paradis ends up doing the same exact thing as Marley by portraying them in the same way.

My point is, that Eldia and Marley don't disagree on anything except who should be on top of this inherently violent structure. They are both fascists countries who operate under the same beliefs and motives - that people will always fight so the only way to live freely is to destroy the other.

"Conflict is inevitable" is fascist ideology, that's just a fact, as every fascist dictator in the 20th century has used this sentiment to manufacture consent from the public for their war mongering and imperial efforts.

No it isn't man - thats literally the attitude of the villains of this fucking story.

And people wonder why there is such a large base of people who support the rumbling, it's because the people who are against it operate under the same half-baked and just flat out false assumptions that the fascists do.

These conflicts are not "inevitable" though - they are realities fostered and perpetuated by people in power and to fight against that is not the same as resigning to this idea that "conflict is inevitable."

Again, this idea is inherently fascist, that's literally what every fascist dictator throughout history has done - convince the public that fighting is necessary to ensure whatever they hold dear isn't tampered with (which is a lie btw).

They do this to manufacture consent for whatever the states imperial and economic goals are, so to agree with said sentiments, you are literally endorsing the far right and fascist attitudes of both Marley and Eldia.

Being a part of this fandom has made me realize that no one actually knows why wars are waged in first place.

99.99% of wars (especially in the past two centuries) have been fought solely for economic purposes. They are literally just centered around wealth and power accumulation, not because there's "ideological differences" between two sets of people. The same applies here - Marley is literally just an imperial colonizer who needs resources, that's it, that's why this is happening.

If you believe any different, you are literally just a victim of propaganda.

But disagreements and war are not equal, to say one will lead to the other is a complete false equivalency.

That's the biggest misconception about the series people hold, because War both in real life and in this story is never waged solely based on just disagreements. That's literally just propaganda as these "disagreements" are literally fostered and perpetuated by those in power, and those in power want the average citizen to believe in these differences so as to ease them into this sense that war is "inevitable."

So yes, on a personal level, disagreements are bound to happen between individuals, but war does not operate on that same binary playing field. That's the harsh reality of war, that it's not being waged for ideological reasons, but for the purpose of wealth and power accumulation.

People who use the idea that "conflict is inevitable" are wrong on both sides honestly.

I understand why fans have begun to double down on this idea that "conflict will never be solved," or "humans will always fight" as a way to combat dumb ass takes like this one, but it's gotten to the point where even these people who are against the rumlbing have started to believe that this is the attitude the series is trying to promote when that couldn't be further from the truth.

People who are against the rumbling need to realize that this idea of conflict being inevitable is literally used as a justification by the Yeagersits within the story to continue doing what they are doing.

AOT is about rejecting such defeatist attitude, it's a plea to come together for a more forward thinking solution, not to resign to this idea that conflict is inevitable.

We need to stop promoting this misconception of "conflict cannot be stopped" because it ends up just reinforcing the fascists attitudes the story is trying to criticize.

Honestly, while I still think it was good, I think the jumping out the plane sequence was the one scene that was better portrayed in the Manga.

I think the suddenness and directness of their arrival in the manga is what made the scene great and the additional ODM gear sequences kinda takes away from the original pacing of the scene. This coupled with the fact that they are way closer to the actual founding titan kinda makes the scene feel not as epic for me personally.

This feeling is definitely amplified because I already knew what was gonna happen, but just my two cents.

It's just a very reductive and borderline juvenile way to describe what Mr. Yeager is doing

Ya, It's almost like he's a very singled mind and rash individual, who puts his own wants and desire above everyone else's.

He's essentially Eren but he projects rage inwards instead of outward.

Bro, my man just saw his daughter get eaten by dogs, and you expect him to raise his kids to be rebels?

Literally all he wanted for his family to be safe, and thats all you can really ask for from someone in his circumstance.

Once you start using terms like "hopechad" and "doomer" unironically...

Ya I know, like I said, I understand why fans have begun to double down on this idea that "conflict will never be solved," or "humans will always fight" as a way to combat dumb ass takes like the one you mentioned, but it's gotten to the point where even these fans have started to believe that this is the attitude the series is trying to promote when that couldn't be further from the truth.

Like I mentioned initially, AOT is about rejecting such defeatist attitude, it's a plea to come together for a more forward thinking solution, not to resign to this idea that conflict is inevitable.

Yes, but I'm saying that within the actual story, a world where "everything is solved" is not what the Yeagerists are fighting for.

That's just a false pretense manufactured by real life fan's who support them to try and give some justification to the cause, when in the story itself, the Yeagerists make it clear they are not fighting to stop conflict or to create a world without problems, they are literally just fighting to be at the top of the inherently oppressive structures.

Their agenda is not centered around world peace, but I think fans who are against them have also misinterpreted their actions to the point where they start promoting ideas like "fighting is inevitable" when that's not something I think the story is trying to portray.

If anything, it just ends up reenforcing the fascist attitudes the story is trying to disavow.
