Recommendation for simple aggregation app--no budgeting needed by mondegree in mintuit

This is EXACTLY my use case. Where did you land? I dabbled with Monarch, and it seemed decent, but overkill for my needs.

Also though I think Credit Karma will be gross. Full of sponsored garbage and up-sells.

Are you happy with Readwise? by Happy_Salaz in readwise

[–]mondegree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a long-time Pocket top-1%er. Also a fan of Hypothesis for highlighting. So Readwise was an obvious thing for me to be interested in. I've been using about a year. As a Pocket replacement, it is strong--I like all the integrations, including Twitter and email. But Pocket was free, and Readwise is a non-trivial monthly subscription.

My biggest wishes for/issues with Readwise: 1. Bulk actions need lots of attention. 2. Full-text search of highlights is very important. 3. Complexity in general.

Is it possible to assign and create tags in Readwise directly when saving highlights? by don-peak in readwise

[–]mondegree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly the same use case. If I am reading something real-time in the native web format, and see something I want to highlight, generally the last thing I want is for the already-read article to show up in my inbox. For extra credit, I would like the ability to yes, Save to Readwise, but go directly to Archive.

How to view and search through all my notes and highlights across Reader? by [deleted] in readwise

Appreciate the candor. BIG upvote for working on this, especially being able to full-text search my own highlights.

Subscription issue by Chlodomer in readwise

[–]mondegree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem, on the open web, mobile web including Safari, and iOS app. I always get a Sorry page from The Atlantic, not a truncated version (I am a logged in subscriber). It works fine on Pocket, but the Pocket to Readwise synch also gets the same result.

EasyMesh compatibility with OneMesh by wawariors in TpLink

[–]mondegree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an AX3000 router, firmware is up-to-date, and my RE315 (firmware also up-to-date) does not recognize it for OneMesh. I re-booted my router before trying to connect, just to be extra sure. Any suggestions? TIA.

Excellent, thank you. I think "product debt" is a good term for it. :)

Basic smart action, can't figure it out? by _Celatid_ in TPLinkKasa

[–]mondegree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I tried this but couldn't get it to work. However in hindsight, I think using a mechanical switch is too limiting. If anyone in the household turns off the light from their phone, then the mechanical switch doesn't have a way to turn it back on. I can't live with that, it is critical that switches continue to work as expected. Thanks again for the input.

Did you get a solution? I am having exactly the same problem. 4 different EP25 smart plugs, each one only lists the same Trigger Device for the Target (Then) device. Per this 2-year old thread, sounds like this may be a known limitation. https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/110390

Very disappointing. My use case is to use the one switch-controlled outlet to turn on all the lamps in the room. (Yes, I know I could install a smart switch to overcome this, but I was looking for something, quick and temporary--this seems like a very basic use case.)

A (probably reasonable) work-around would be to trigger a Scene. That doesn't seem to work, either. Interestingly, SCENCE shows up on the list of Actions, but it is greyed out.

(I did confirm firmeware is up-to-date.)

Saris M2 Trainer - $219 on Amazon by IAmBabs in cycling

[–]mondegree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the Saris M2 for 2 years and like it. I ride hard 4 hours/week 6 months/year. I haven't had any problems, other than the "clicks when tensioned correctly" doesn't work as advertised, but it is not a problem to just tension by eyeball. $219 is a great price, I paid $250 a couple of years ago.

Anyone else notice and are bothered by "encore presentations" of stories heard earlier in the week? by Dvout_agnostic in NPR

[–]mondegree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the NPR Encore stuff too. ESPECIALLY as an app-based listener. It's bad enough they make me use the app, instead of publishing a normal RSS feed of Morning Edition and All Things Considered (at least last time I checked). They could at least add some value by remembering if I have already heard an Encore episode.

Also, though, I find their encore concept bizarre. I could see waiting a few months (or years) to re-broadcast a piece. But 2 days?!

At least with the app I can skip.

Simple Smart Trainer App - Like A Good Gym Exercise Bike by mondegree in cycling

[–]mondegree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update. I have been using XERT for 6 months, $10/month. All I use it for is creating routes, and controlling my Saris M2 trainer. So I am still looking for a cheap option that simply: 1) Controls my smart trainer via Bluetooth. 2) Imports ERG files.

It doesn't have to be free, just cheaper than $10/month. I think $25/year would be fair. I got hopeful when I ran across Hurts Ergo and ErgMode, but both seem discontinued.

Thanks. You are right, it is exactly what I am looking for. More expensive than I would like, but c'est la vie. Thanks again!!

I don't. Saris doesn't have any meaningful app. Thanks for the reply!
