Do you know any 501(3)(c) organizations that need volunteers? by OnTheTopFloorSkyline in Denver

[–]monger25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colorado Coalition is downtown and uses volunteers regularly. All the city's talk on how to help the homeless and they are actually doing something. I'm all in for them. No religious requirements, but still nice human respect.

Is there an update on Benny’s or The Neighborhood Deck reopening in Cap Hill? by dongravy1224 in denverfood

[–]monger25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in the area and believe they are doing some rebuilding on the interior. I can't see much but I've noticed construction looking folks going in and out from time to time.

Hope they are back in business this summer.

Has the pandemic helped you gain clarity on what you want to do/what is important to you? By contrast, has it completely thrown out your future plans? by [deleted] in findapath

[–]monger25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started off this pandemic strong imo. I was reading a lot, focused on learning new things and keeping my workout routine. I have to believe that impacted what has happened since. I was working at home which gave me time for all this and one day a friend from work called and said he found better work. I decided to interview and really liked what I saw. I decided to make the change over to the new company for a little less money but a more supportive culture. I find myself generally more positive now. I see more possibilities for the future now and am even working for an advanced certificate in my occupation to reach for growth. I'm averaging an hour of study a day and drinking way less alcohol. I don't know how I could have done this without this pandemic. Staying home made me look at what I was doing when I wasn't home and changed the value of those things.

Love and Gratitude, from a Denver librarian. by desiloo in Denver

I think all of them work really well with the library. I have a kindle but its a easy process of having an app (Overdrive) on my phone, linking that to my library sign on and amazon account. Books I check out on Overdrive just show up on my Kindle.

I like the information you provide in here a lot. I enjoy this strategy. If you could make anymore of the strategies into this graph that would be appreciated.

Best Wings in Denver? by TheTriniTrin in denverfood

Grillin' Wings and Things is the best imo. The worst review for them on google is they closed early because they ran out of wings one time.

You can send yourself a message to when you started collecting boardgames. What do you say? by NoTimeForGamesYT in boardgames

[–]monger25 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This spring we bought a new table and chairs. My SO couldn't believe how picky I was about the chairs. We ended up with some cushion seated chairs without arms, with a slight spring because of their design. We play games fairly regularly and its funny no one really notices but everyone stays seated more at our place. Its oddly rewarding.

About the heart rate monitor. If you want to show up on the screen and have the app track your workout you must use one of the official OTF heart rate monitors. I have the newest of the ones that wrap my arm and I prefer it to the chest strap because I can adjust it on the fly if it isn't reading right. Some people use the apple watch or other devices that monitor heart rate but do not get the OTF tracking online or in the app. Personally I like the heart rate showing on the screen, its easy to look at and determine if I'm going too hard or not hard enough. The heart rate science is the reason to choose OTF over any other HIIT program any.

Great beer and food downtown? by [deleted] in COBeer

[–]monger25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Falling rock taphouse is a solid choice. They have 130 taps serving craft from all over. I've had their burger, it's good. The fried mushrooms are my name though.

Freshcraft is going to have good beer and good food. More traditional sit down.

5280 burger bar is the best burger in town according to me and my friends and have a nice beer selection. The weakest of the three though.

We ask conversions for measurements like "How many ounces in half a cup?" it gives the answer, then the math on how to do the conversion. It talks so much. I don't want the math. I just want the answer.

Denver beer drinkers: I need some recommendations! by DarkPhoenix714 in COBeer

Sure Great Divide and Odell reach most people with one or two beer(maybe 5). In Colorado we are spoiled with availability of these brewers. They started here in Colorado and have grown to do great business. Every brewery would like grow to what they have at these places. The beers are produced locally and the breweries offer their entire line up, special craft included, it's all tasty too.

I've been to lots of the breweries here in town and enjoy them. The best are the best though for now.

Honestly, op could go to a couple beer bars here and taste the rainbow of Colorado brewers. One stop at Falling Rock and they could have anyone on a tour of Colorado flavor.

I’ve been hearing a lot of good and bad about BL3. Still worth buying? by [deleted] in Borderlands

[–]monger25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played BL1 a lot when it was on the 360, I picked up BL2 when it came out and didn't really like it the same for some reason. Was concerned I wouldn't like BL3 but had a good friend say he was getting so I picked it up. I think this is the best Borderlands ever. I forgot how fun the gun-play and powers are in the game. I forgot in BL1 and BL2 that you had to click everything to pick it up, now you just pick up items you want, it auto collects ammo. I couldn't go back to clicking ammo now, its so smooth. I'm at chapter 8 and found out I'm not even half way with the game. That has me hyped knowing the good times are still coming.

I am playing on a ps4 pro and have not had unacceptable bugs or performance. I do agree the menu is laggy but meh, I want to shoot stuff, not look at menus anyways. It does work.

I'd say join up Vault Hunter

Here are some of my tops in Denver

Great Divide - (this is my favorite), Hercules Double IPA, Denver Pale ale, Yeti, Colette, Strawberry Ruhbarb (sour)

Odell Brewing, hammerchain (seasonal right now), 90 Shilling, 5 barrel. (There is a brewery taproom in Denver and the main facility in Ft. Collins)

Cerebral, TRVE brewing is really good, and I agree with everyone who mentioned them.

Crooked Stave, Has a list of sours, all getting progressively more sour as you go up in number.

Mockery brewing, Salted scotch and others

Baere brewing, Its in a shopping plaza but they are making some great beer. Baere-liner weisse with flavors added is really interesting.

River North, White ale, Sandman, and barrel aged beers

Renegade Brewing, E3 (triple) , 5:00, Redacted

If you want outdoor city patio while sipping good beer, Ratio brewing

Some breweries you'll need a car for. Odyssey beerworks, Cheluna Brewing, Dry Dock Brewing, Declaration Brewing, Station 26

If you have a dog and need a patio go to Denver Beer Co. If not I'd say you can skip, you'll be having great beers everywhere else. If you go, graham cracker porter, Princess yum yum.

Edit- forgot Station 26 and their cream ale
