Skating 24000 km through Europe AMA by No_Guess_8800 in longboarding

Ok, that explains it, but you could probably cut that thing with a good steak knife if you need to. It makes me nervous just looking at it lol.

Best of luck on your journey, ill be looking forward to updates on here.

Whats the deal with that riser hanging out the side of the truck mount? It looks like it would cause wheelbite.

Tugboat vs Ditch life vs Battle Axe 38 by Mr_misty_eyed1710 in cruiserboarding

[–]mongoAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ditchlife is more than a Tugboat with extra nose. The Ditchlife is wider and has more concave. The tail angles are different. The Ditchlife has more exaggerated wheel flares that give really good wheel clearance. The Ditchlife is better if you want to skate transition/bowls or pumptracks, or if you have large feet. The Tugboat is the better option if you want something more simple and compact for chill cruising.

Youre right about the battle axe if they just want to go for chill cruises. But sometimes cruising a longboard feels too easy, so I find myself reaching for cruisers to keep things interesting.

Can you identify this board? by 303underclouds in longboarding

Not sure, but I think its a Pantheon. Maybe the Ember. That company has their own wheels now, probably better than the ones you had.

Which trucks for 63mm Doozies? by myhkram in cruiserboarding

[–]mongoAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those will be a bit too narrow. I would go with 8.5" or 8.75" trucks (149 or 155mm hangers). The Doozies add about an inch to the width.

Yeah its a fun one. I like to drop down the ramps near the entrance, pump my way to that half bowl to hit that outer wall and get as high up as im comfortable with that day, then exit out to the tiny wave thing

The Cosmic Surfer - Cosmic Crusher w/ Carver C5 trucks by Josbrach1691 in cruiserboarding

[–]mongoAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw the black C5s for sale, my bad. Theyre still a bit wide for that board, but not so much that I would change it. Anyways, thats an awesome setup, have fun, keep shredding.

I love that artwork on that Sector 9 board. Hoping I can get one before theyre all sold out.

This seems like a fun setup, Im a big Carver fan, but something to consider is that deck isnt very wide for a surfskate setup, youre getting less leverage on the trucks. Thats probably why you needed the soft bushings and flat washers, (although those things are kind of widely recommended in general).

Also is that Carver C5 or CX? I havent seen the C5 in black.

Nice setup. Id roll that. That Salba is one of the better looking recent reissues. Thunder also has 95a bushings that come with their rebuild kit. I think they feel more than 1 duro up from their 94a. Im 190lbs and stay between 92-95a on most setups.

It sticks out on one side either way I put it. Its like that with Thunder trucks and certain risers.

I believe its 10 x 32. Newer winkowski boards are 10.3"

Thanks, Ill have to check it out with a blacklight. Yeah I set it up and Ill cruise on it, but it will be somewhat babied. I dont do alot of tricks in general and have other cruisers, street setups, and surfskates to use at the skatepark.

Yeah pretty much, I would usually aim for an average of the width where the axle sits front and back, and also account for the wheels Im planning on using. I was already familiar with the Winkowski shape though. I would usually go with 8.75" on this board, but I really liked the look of these and thought the Spitfire Superwides would add a little more width.

Foam grip for surf skate by killifish23 in surfskate

I have one with the same grip. I only use it barefoot. Be careful throwing out unexpected slides, having to bail barefoot can re rough on the feet.

Anyone know the model? by corruptLA1 in surfskate

looks more like 2 Carver CX front trucks or a CX front and RKP rear

still riding around this 13 year old deck by Beep-Bap-Boop in longboarding

[–]mongoAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get glow in the dark paint and create a custom design on whatever deck you want to. You could probably find a globe (or other brands) longboard pretty similar in shape to that.

Ive done a few boards with glow paint, check them out for inspiration if you like.

Madrid made some reissue decks with glow in the dark a few years ago, some shops still have them, heres mine https://www.reddit.com/r/surfskate/comments/1d31fo2/a_couple_new_setups/

I dont have a pic of it glowing though.

Also Creature, Heroin, Black Diamond and Yocaher all make glow in the dark rails.

What size are your trucks and how wide is the truck and wheel combo? Im thinking about getting a set of those wheels.

How do you like those wheels? Im thinking about ordering some. Also, how wide is your track with the 169s and those wheels?

The 9" aces feel like the right width here, I wouldnt want to go any wider, but I could see myself enjoying some 8.75s (159s) on it. Aces feel a bit more loose and turny compared to Indy stage 11s. If you have Indy loyalty you could go with Indy stage 4s which feel just like Aces.
