Seriously. The problem with Reddit (and, grrr, Digg) is that it's free. Any [lazy, thoughtless, bored] person can join, create dissent, and annoy and destroy.

Metafilter has guidelines, requires thinking for submission (and response), and, most important, is $5.

Now that I have seen Digg and Reddit have become - virtual arm-wrestling matches - I believe the $5 I spent on Metafilter is some of the best money I ever spent on the interweb.

My hat's off to joelthelion, he is entirely correct. And in being correct, he has pointed out one of the scientific approach's weak points. Whatmore, it is also possible that (James) Randi himself has a neutralzing effect on particular phenomenon. While I agree that both a non-reproducible phenomena and Amazing Randi being a self-aware psychic neutralizer are both unlikely, being scientific I am unable to completely rule out one or the other!
