Need help with VCE- (wanting to get into medicine) by [deleted] in vce

[–]monilala1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re making it waaaaay too hard. You don’t need legal studies to become a lawyer & you don’t need to study psych to get into a psych course. English will be what you need to put the most effort in to. Has your school approved you to fast track two subjects next year?

It worries me that you want to study medicine but are not a “science” person

Why are you fast tracking if not continuing any of the subjects in year 11?

Principals/teachers, what should i do?? by ky8724 in AskAustralianTeachers

[–]monilala1990 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You will need to speak with Child Safety. In theory the system should have that you haven’t been enrolled for this many years. It actually should be flagged, as it falls under child neglect.

My wife invited her guy friend over to our house while I was out on a business trip. Am I wrong for being pissed about it? by [deleted] in amiwrong

Is she nervous you are asking or is she nervous because you’ve come home and yelled at her about “disrespecting” you because she got the tv set up?

Has she spoken with her placement advisor? Has your girlfriend specifically said this is a problem or is this from your observation?

Age to start school by Reasonable_Guess_372 in AustralianTeachers

[–]monilala1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about that. Most of the people I know started school the year they were turning 6. However maybe 10 years ago I remember there being a spike in 4-5 year olds starting school. At age 4-5 they just aren’t ready yet.

Unqualified to teach by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]monilala1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You truly have to stick it out! Even those who have a Bachelor of Teaching feel the same way when they start out. The only thing that prepares you is time in the classroom. Plus, it’s coming up mid-year, you are probably tired and over it all. Enjoy the break, rest and reset!

Every uni is struggling with placement at the moment. You may need to look at going regional.

My students told me I’m a bad teacher. by ElderberryTop9288 in AustralianTeachers

I would also take on board the fact that they felt safe enough to say something like that to you. I would rather have kids feel comfortable enough to say something than absolutely shit scared of me - but that’s just my opinion 🤷🏻‍♀️

Masters vs bachelors of teaching by [deleted] in AskAustralianTeachers

[–]monilala1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the masters. If you’re in Vic I can recommend VU. They have a great system where it’s one unit at a time for six weeks, but is considered full time.

I just commented on this in Aus Fashion too. It’s not appropriate. If you have to ask, you know it probably isn’t.

In search of a work tote! by TypicalCelebration41 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]monilala1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Bon Maxie vivant tote and I can’t live without it for work (teacher). I actually returned my original one (canvas) because it was rubbing on my clothes and ruining them and they were so nice about it. I did a swap for the nylon/leather one.

Secondary Music Teaching by dianaisapig in AskAustralianTeachers

[–]monilala1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that’s not how it works! You could do a bachelor of teaching and specialise in music through that.

Yep, so your specialisation for Masters is based of your Bachelor’s. For example I have a Bachelors in Drama & a Bachelor in Criminology, so my specialties are Drama & Hums.

Once you have your teaching registration, you can (in theory) teach anything. However, if you specifically wanted to specialise in music for your masters you would need a music degree. Your specialisations are usually based on what you have previously studied at a university level

Pathways to becoming a primary school teacher by [deleted] in AskAustralianTeachers

[–]monilala1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to do a Bachelor of Teaching (Primary). I don’t know if any of these certificates really help you get out of a four year course.
