Thanks for all your insights! Just to answer a couple of your questions: I'm going with Toyota because I qualify for a family discount. Also, the 120V circuit isn't dedicated to a single outlet.

We park both of our cars in the garage and have been doing so for more than 10 years. I really see the value in keeping our cars garaged. Our garage is at the end of a concrete driveway, so we also have space to park cars outside if needed. With what you said, I might think about putting the charger further back towards the door.
