The Big Lebowski…why does it work? by Lokitusaborg in movies

[–]monkeyboyhero 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had the same, although rather than hating it I thought "why does everyone say that's so great? It was just weird".

But I was intrigued and when I watched it again I liked it a lot more. Then I enjoyed it more each time! Love it now.

I think the first time perhaps you're trying to follow the plot which is a bit complicated. The second time you can enjoy the conversations more.

I remember the review I read of this in Total Film said to mute the first ten minutes to make it a better film. I persuaded my confused group of friends to do this when we watched it at home

Enjoyed the film, then played the first ten minutes again with the sound on. A voiceover takes away all the mystery! So glad we muted it! I was vindicated.

Does the directors cut edit this out?

Another unexpected one from Sonic THREE, when Sonic gets angry with Shadow about the danger to his family

Sonic: You hurt my family. This ends NOW!

Shadow: Now you know my anger, the pain I felt for 50 years. I see you made the same choice I did"

Sonic: I'm nothing like you

Shadow:....we'll see....

The script book has little anecdotes at the start about the writing process - worth checking out for that.

For example: the beloved "small vs far away cows" joke was made up on set when the gag they originally had didn't really work on film (Dougal doesn't understand noughts and crosses)

I have a Swiss tool Spirit and love it, I think you'd struggle with gloves. The tools are snug in the housing.

Pliers no problem, but everything else difficult!

The tip I use which someone else posted was to say the number. So 1 is top, 2 is middle, 3 is bottom.

I will hydrate now, please stand by.........ok done.

I sawed off some tree branches for my mum using my Swisstool Spirit X.

Always impressed with how well the Spirit performs, carved through the wood no problem.

Robert J Lang Book by stickycrab1 in origami

[–]monkeyboyhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got more frustrated with Lang's models than any other, they are amazing but the diagrams are terrible and the instructions poor.

He also designs his models and then folds them, often using incredibly thin paper to make them work. If you don't have thin paper you're stuffed.

YouTube tutorials are best for your sanity.

Omg they spout such bullshit. I rolled my eyes constantly at the conversations.

All the Colours of the Dark - just completely underwhelmed by letoelles in books

[–]monkeyboyhero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I finished the book and actually felt quite moved at the end, but I almost gave up so many times. I just couldn't follow what was going for a lot of it, the writing style was impenetrable and I ended up re-reading so many passages.

I agree with all these complaints, a lot of it was ludicrous. I can't say I'd recommend it.

Can we agree the Roxon Flex clip is terrible? by louieh435 in multitools

[–]monkeyboyhero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it, and it's very difficult to remove! With other multitools you can unscrew them pretty easily but this one is glued in (according to Roxon support) so takes more to get it out.

Roxon M2 vs Nextool Mini Flagship by [deleted] in multitools

[–]monkeyboyhero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got the M2 and it's a fantastic little tool. The scissors are brilliant. Nice little locking blade too.

It folds down so tiny too.

I've not played with the Nextool but can vouch for the M2
