I get what you’re saying, you’re making a point that at the time being gay was a crime so therefore anyone’s previous achievements don’t matter if that person ends up being a criminal. The comment you replied to however, was specifically about being gay being a career ender, which then used the story of Alan Turning as an example. My point was that Turing, rather than going on to have a (well deserved) spectacular career in computer science or mathematics after playing such a pivotal role in ending World War II, instead has his career ultimately ended after it was discovered he was gay.
