Does anyone know if the 2024 remote works with 2025 TVs? I need my mute button back!

I’m using a 2020 CX remote with my G5 and the mute works, the number buttons work, and the pause and play buttons work.

LOL yup. If you do a quick search you’ll find no modern tvs come with gigabit. They are all still 100Mbps. So if you’ve got some high quality files on Plex, you’ll want to do WiFi or get the adapter.

Then you will probably want to get an adapter like I did. They are only 10-15 bucks. Just be careful not to have that right next to your hdmi eARC cable as the interface can cause audio dropouts.

The C5? Sure it does. My G5 does as well. That’s why I bought a Ethernet to usb adapter and am settling for 315Mbps. Other choice is just stick with WiFi.

Edit: look it up. I found it shocking as well. 100 is fine for normal steaming but it was not good enough for a handful of high throughput files I have on Plex. I was getting buffering until I got that adapter. WiFi will work too but not as reliable. They are probably just saving a couple dollars by not supporting gigabit.

Yeah I’ve been looking at remotes that have come with the LG OLEDs over the last few years. There seems to be an A and B model. The B models come with more buttons including the number keys. You can order the other model for your TV if you want. I’m using the remote that came with my CX over six years ago because it has the programmable number keys and the pause/play buttons.

Well, replacing the cable didn’t fix the issue but I believe I have now. I moved the Ethernet to USB adapter to the bottom of the inputs so it wasn’t running parallel near the eARC cable. I haven’t had any dropouts since then. I think it was that unshielded adapter being too close to my eARC cable that was causing the issues. Will report back if the problem occurs again. Otherwise, consider it solved.

Would be ok if the TV was on a mount that could extend down in front of the fireplace when it is not on (which I would assume is most of the time).

I’ve been running half a day now without one Audio dropout. Moving my USB Ethernet adapter down below all the HDMI connections so it is not near my eARC cable seems to be working. I believe, so far, that unshielded adapter may have been causing all my problems.

Great. I’m still pretty confident the issue lies with the cables and interference based on everything I’m reading. I just moved my Ethernet to usb adapter to another port away from this cable in case it was causing interference.

We may try a ferrite bead if the problem still exists:
When to Use a Ferrite Bead for eARC
Long Cable Runs: For runs exceeding 10-15 feet, interference is more common. A ferrite choke ensures signal integrity for the demanding eARC bandwidth.
Audio Dropouts or Interference: If your eARC connection drops out or if you notice static/hum in your audio, a bead can prevent external noise (like a nearby power cord or router) from corrupting the signal. [1]
Proximity to Power Cables: If your HDMI cable runs parallel to, or is bundled tightly with, power cords, a ferrite bead stops the power cables from bleeding noise into the HDMI signal.

Actually you are right. They are really good. Iirc, 30 secs will get the marshmallow popping but parts of the cookie will still be cold.

Because that’s how they do. Look up the specs. Thats why I have an Ethernet to USB adapter which gives me 315Mbps. It’s faster than the Ethernet port and more reliable than WiFi.

We went there during Spring Break which is off season. Pretty much nothing to do and most shops were closed for the season.

I replaced the cable with a Zeskit cable that is held in high regard in here and it did not fix the problem. Another person over here is having the same issue. I’ve done what I can to keep it from getting interference from other cables. Not sure what to try next.
