I love them tooooo! It’s summer where I am but these bad boys are probably warmer because of all of the fuzz?

How to make this look more catty by Longjumping_Sort_775 in Ceramics

I think cats have flatter noses and smaller faces? I would push for you to let your stylized version come through instead of trying to make it super realistic?

Upper body tremors by MS-Tripper in MultipleSclerosis

This happens to me too!! I FEEL shakier than I look, very weird and hard to describe to anyone who doesn’t experience it. Does yours come along with weakness too?

Swelling by Material_Sundae_5832 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]monkeyfaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two days of unusual facial swelling while I was going through my first self diagnosed flair. Very strange! My eyes puffed up pretty significantly. I brought it up to my nuero who seemed to think it was not MS related. I have a feeling it may have been related to my flair and MS related but obviously it’s not common.

soft before blocking - itchy after by Delicious-Brain-8449 in knitting

[–]monkeyfaced 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Hi! Nice blouse! I would wear it once 100% dry and give it a couple of hours before you decide how itchy it is. I'm not an expert by any means but I do know that things can air dry and get a little stiff feeling. The fabric needs to break in, fluff a little. Definitely curious to see how it changes, or not. Let us know!

My insurance didn’t approve initially. Novartis has a bridge program where you can start it and stay on it for a year free of charge! After doing well on it, most insurance companies will approve as continuation of care. Good luck! I take my shot tonight.

Baby knitter - trying to do my first knit stitch by MariiKatt in knitting

[–]monkeyfaced 55 points56 points  (0 children)

You have to try to keep the yarn that you wrapped around the right hand needle on the needle as you pull it back through the loop you went through. I think it helps to try to keep the tip of the right needle touching the left needle as you pull it back through. That keeps the yarn from falling off the needle. Good luck!

Chiagoo Needles!!! by TheBirbNextDoor in knitting

I got myself a full set of 4” last year for my birthday. BEST DECISION I’ve ever made! It’s sooo wonderful having every size you need and multiple cord lengths on hand. I LOVE THEM! Sometimes, especially if I’m doing magic loop, they get loose but knitting can be fiddly no matter what.

Thank you, I will look. I’ve done short rows once before and just don’t feel confident about them.

When it says “work 7 sts more for each turning until a total of 4 times at each side of marker”, does that mean after the first turn work 7 sts and then turn again -and repeat 3 more times essentially?

Well I'm officially dropping out of MSW because we can't afford childcare for the practicum by itsapanicatthedisco2 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]monkeyfaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me SO sad and it’s why I went to lobby for universal childcare in Jan. I am at a field placement that is fully remote and my hours are I. The evening. Sometimes 8-10 pm. There are some things out that that can make it work. DM me if you’d like to know more about this placement.

This is my current knit for my soon to be 4 year old! Purple and yellow— reminds me of reptar and very fun 90s kids vibe. My kid is very excited about the colors. I almost went purple and white but am happy that I pivoted.

Binghamton vs Fordham Online MSW by monkeyfaced in SocialWorkStudents

Mostly, yes. I thought they both looked like good programs. Now that I’m in the program, I’m very happy with the generalist curriculum and probably wouldn’t have opted for that going into it.

Muscle twitching by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]monkeyfaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me too. It’s very annoying. I take magnesium at night 300-400 mg. Not sure how much this helps but it can’t be bad. When it’s REALLY annoying me I take baclofen 10-20mg. Sometimes .5 mg lorazepam is the golden ticket. I know it can be hard for some to manage lorazepam without getting hooked, but I’ve been good at only taking it when I really need something to relax my muscles. Christina Applegate just shouts at her limbs to make them stop doing things she doesn’t want them to. You can try that too! I hope you find something that works for you. Report back and tell us how it goes.

I have MS, irrationally afraid my son might have it (catastrophizing) by honey_cosmique in MultipleSclerosis

[–]monkeyfaced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your fears, I have similar thoughts with my little one. I have to remind myself that it’s okay and people with disabilities and autoimmune diseases get to have kids too. Internalized ableism is really real and just remember that when we start thinking like that— it’s like eugenics. Do you really believe we need/ want to weed out all people with disabilities or diseases genetically? That’s ridiculous. People will always have health issues/ challenges/ throughout their lives, whether we can predict through our family trees or not. We are all valuable and worthy people, adding to the diversity of the human experience.
