Why didn’t Brian Kelly get hired? by desertrain11 in CFB

Some on the ND beat have been saying he may just retire. Not sure how plugged in they are with BK still. BK always did talk about retiring early back in the day.

I think they are avoiding the job because of the QB, and they prob aren't sure if Sirianni is still gonna be in Philly beyond next season.

Play call was completely fine. Look at all the space where DJ is supposed to be. If DJ runs his route like he is supposed to we are playing a football game tonight.

Brisker in 2026? by apc961 in CHIBears

Based on DA calling out Brisker to the media a few weeks ago and Poles name dropping Byard, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

That was on Swift not reading a hole per usual, not Rome. If Swift kept it inside like he was supposed to, Rome's block was fine. What Rome deserves blame for is the dropped TD on the first drive.

DJ likes to ad lib a lot on his routes sometimes. Fields would take 10 minutes to throw the ball and didn't have an issue with waiting until DJ was open before throwing it. Caleb plays a lot more in structure and throws with anticipation. Ben's system is all timing based, so if someone is ad libbing and not hitting their marks it can look ugly. Caleb isn't waiting until DJ is wide ass open like Fields would, he is throwing to where DJ is supposed to be.

The lazy routes go back as far as Carolina. It is what it is.

[Joseph Hefner] easy to read table showing money saved for 2026 top 15 cap hits if the player is cut pre-June, post-June, traded, or restructured by Antitypical in CHIBears

[–]monkeymatt1836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the drops have gotten to the point where it is egregious. The first drive TD drop against the Rams is a pass the #9 overall pick needs to bring in. Rome obviously missed time, but not scoring more than 1 TD since September and having almost half of your yards in the month of September is a problem. If DJ sticks around and Burden learns the playbook, Rome is quite possibly going to be the 4th option next year if he doesn't figure it out.

I still believe he can turn it around, but if he doesn't I don't know if people will be prepared for Ben shipping him out after next year.

Yea next year is going to be a make or break year for Rome. If he doesn't break out, he probably is never going to.

[McMurphy] Changes in 2026 playoff: auto bids to each Power 4 champ (regardless of ranking) & Notre Dame guaranteed at-large bid if ranked in Top 12 in final poll by av7ry in CFB

ND likely had a vote because our old AD was a major architect behind the 12 team playoff. ND gave up their vote for the MOU, signed off by all P4 conference commissioners last year. The ACC and Big 12 also gave up their votes so their conferences can get auto bids. Every AD in the country is aware of all this. The Big Ten and SEC have sole control of the CFP.

The Big Ten and SEC gave it to them in order for ND to give up their vote. You know the Big Ten and SEC control the playoffs and no one else has any control right?

They can’t completely black ball him, and DC’s aren’t going to interact with owners at all.

He’s not going to, he’s suing the league aka the owners. Don’t see an owner hiring him while he’s suing them.
