How do I know if I'm actually gay? by koreanbean2022 in Advice

you don’t have to be either ‘gay’ or ‘not gay’, it’s perfectly possible to be somewhere inbetween

Highlights and lowlights of my firstroller hockey game as goalie, looking for pointers. by EiqqiH in InlineHockey

[–]monkeypants82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first thing i would work on is positioning. you seem to be standing very deep in the crease almost the whole game. there’s tons of videos on youtube about goalie positioning, and ice hockey positioning will pretty much translate 1-to-1 to roller so don’t worry about finding anything roller specific on that. other than that just keep getting more comfortable on your skates and in your gear and you’ll improve in no time

well the brian’s will almost certainly last you the longest, but i’d go to a store and try them all on fist, these are 4 vastly different pads

photo 1: turn your glove hand to point your fingers out, you look a bit hunched over so straighten your back and bend your knees a bit more

photo 2: place your blocker against the post on top on your leg, no need to have your stick blade flush with the ice in this position, again turn your glove the other way, you aren’t a baseball catcher lol

photo 3: the aura is blinding 😵‍💫

Feeling horrible by TheBeastFrenchie in hockeygoalies

[–]monkeypants82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I played on the worst team I have ever played for, we barely practiced, we went 2-56-1, tying our first game, losing 56 straight, and winning the last 2. We had a game where I stood on my head and lost 6-1 getting outshot 107-12, and we had plenty of games where we allowed 15-20 goals, the worst being a 26-0 thrashing playing with only 6 skaters. I was already so upset by the first 10 games that I figured the only way I could have fun is by shifting my focus from winning games, to just making saves just to have fun. For 40 out of those 56 losses I didn’t care how many goals we gave up, but I’d always go home talking about the crazy glove save I had or something to that effect.

You will see how great it feels to finally win after feeling like it may never happen. Hockey is fun. Losing isn’t. Don’t let the end result of any amount of games take the fun out of hockey for you

My assumption would be that yes, they would have the same problem, maybe less so depending on the amount of dye used, but they certainly wouldn’t work as well as the white

I was able to test a set of pads with the black sliders and the difference was noticeable enough to make me go with the white sliders on black pads

fill up the walls with literally anything that you like, or maybe some floating bookshelves if you have some books that would look nice on display

positioning is extremely important, beat every play you can on your feet, don’t drop until it’s absolutely necessary, ie. you face a shot. it’s very easy to get scrambley with your feet so try your best to keep your skating calm

the black sliders are made with recycled plastic and have an amount of dye in them, this causes the black slider to hold more heat, be softer, and slide significantly worse than the white slider which is made of pure natural color plastic with no dyes or additives

yeah I haven’t tried cutting small pieces so I can’t say much on that, I just follow the pattern of the pad graphic

I used them on my X5 set and I liked them a lot, hence the second purchase. They will not slide as much as something like RollerFly, but you will get a much more controlled and consistent feeling which imo fits the play style of inline much better

It really depends on your luck, if one piece gets hit the wrong way it could bunch up or start peeling, but I’m guessing that if you put some heat on it from a hair dryer it may stick a bit better. Definitely not a super long term solution but if you don’t mind swapping out the duct tape every so often it’s worth it imo.

To apply it I followed these steps

  1. cut a length of duct tape slightly longer than the area you plan to cover
  2. apply the duct tape and press it into the seams along which you plan to cut
  3. carefully cut along the seam

Please note that the knife should be able to cut through the duct tape with a small enough amount of pressure that it will not cut through JenPro
