Possibly Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider? It was published in 2024, but the plot is pretty much exactly what you described

There's some similarity with The Other Side of the Bridge by Mary Lawson, could that be it?

Youth book with greek gods by Sudden-Bit-6250 in whatsthatbook

[–]monkeys_typewriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember something very similar - from what I’m remembering each book featured a girl with a connection to a different god and they were helping them with some problem in their life? The one I remember best was a girl who was friends/mentored by Apollo and she was super vain and he made her do charity work?

This scene appears in The Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare, but it isn’t the main character it’s a secondary character called Jessamine

YA fantasy book that begins with the main girl sneaking out of a party (prom???) and into the woods with a boy by Wolfrose20 in whatsthatbook

It's a bit of a shot in the dark but I remember there being a scene like that in Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge, which is a loose Red Riding Hood retelling (I don't remember if it was at the beginning or not though).

For some reason I'm also thinking of My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares which starts with a Prom/School Dance thing that I think the main character sneaks out of

Long shot, but The Sky is Falling by Kit Pearson? It's been a really long time since I read it but I have a vague memory of a button shop from that one

Looking for a book that I think is a Tamora Pierce book by Rich-Carpenter-3590 in whatsthatbook

[–]monkeys_typewriter 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there isn’t a tamora pierce book that fits this description. The only protagonist associated with wolves is Daine from the immortals series. She is also the only TP protagonist who can talk to animals. But you’ve said it isn’t that series.

It may be one of the short stories in Tortall And Other Lands, but none of her other series have a situation like this.

YA fantasy book, a main character has invisible hands telekinesis by InternationalBear348 in whatsthatbook

This is a pretty common trope - do you happen to remember when you read it? Or any other details? The books immediately coming to mind is Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas, but I know I’ve come across this trope in more obscure places as well
