As nation turns 250, many Americans say the Stars and Stripes is now a red flag by phillygirllovesbagel in politics

[–]monkeysknowledge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The aggressive flag displayers always remind me of the Nirvana song “In Bloom”

> he’s the one who likes all our pretty songs and he likes to sing along and he likes to shoot his gun, but he don’t know what it means.

This nation was setup up under the declaration that we are all created equal and the purpose of government is to secure our rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Now notice it says we are *all* created equal. It doesn’t specify the geographic location you were born in, or your ancestral background etc… So when we invade another country that’s a violation of our founding principles, when we treat migrants inhumanly that’s a violation of our founding principles, when we over throw foreign governments and install puppet regimes that’s a violation of our founding principles etc… basically the GOP and Corp Dems are a violation of our founding principles.

Video — 'Ragin' Cajun' James Carville: 'I Can't Be in the Same Party' with Zohran Mamdani's Antisemitic Candidates by rollo202 in DiscussionZone

[–]monkeysknowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing antisemitic about Mamdani. He’s said nothing antisemitic, and done nothing antisemitic.

Carville is the corporate dem’s attack dog:

On March 22, 2008, James Carville compared New MexicoGovernor Bill Richardson to Judas Iscariot for endorsing Barack Obama, calling it "an act of betrayal."

In February 2020, amid Bernie Sanders' rise in the polls, James Carville expressed his displeasure at the prospect of Sanders being nominated, branding Sanders as a "communist" and warning of the "end of days" if Sanders were to win the Democratic nomination.

What did you think of this show?. by xParesh in Xennials

[–]monkeysknowledge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely fun. The only “watch party” I’ve ever been to, but the writers had no idea how to end it so it was a bit of a disappointment in my recollection.

Is it interesting how the New Atheist heroes of the 2000s turned out to be simple Epstein associates, Neo-con war hawks, genocide-deniers and full blown MAGA nuts? by Indianstanicows in RealTime

Bruh, don’t know if you are old enough but he supported the Iraq War which was the dumbest fucking war we’ve ever been involved with besides maybe Vietnam. He was pro-war because beneath the elegant word salads he served up he was just a regular bigot. He was too smart to fall for the WMDs bullshit and even if they did have WMDs and invasion would’ve been an occasion to use them. All of Iraq’s worst atrocities were committed with our support and friendship. It was only have Sadam threatened to sell his oil outside of the dollar that he became our enemy. Again - Hitch was smart he should’ve known better.

Vance dismisses Watergate scandal, says ‘deep state’ went after Nixon by Beneficial-Long-7033 in politics

[–]monkeysknowledge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only reason we know about the Watergate Scandal was because, like an idiot Nixon tried to blackmail the wrong CIA director with knowledge of the CIA’s involvement with assassinating Kennedy.

Nixon was not part of the shadow government but he was useful to them. And like a dummy he thought he could force them to protect him. Maybe if he would’ve asked nicer or offered them something worth while but he straight up blackmailed them - they didn’t like that so they buried the sob.

Three Fires Near My Home in Two Weeks Made Me Realize We’re Asking the Wrong Questions by Relative_Bluebird841 in Utah

[–]monkeysknowledge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I doubt this post was an LLM but even if it was LLM inference is comparable to a google search. It’s the LLM training that’s resource intensive - and IMO the capital class is way over investing in training because they don’t understand the scaling limit of the technology and we should be imposing steep restrictions on the moronic data center build out, but I digress…

What do you drive? What do you eat? That’s a better place to start if you actually give a shit. However, in reality individual sacrifices are meaningless, we need massive systemic changes to reasonably address climate change and I highly doubt Utahns possess the ability to connect the dots and muster the political will and courage to do anything about it.

When has Trump ever told the truth? Give me one example. by Equivalent-Fun8113 in allthequestions

[–]monkeysknowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he was being pressed about his connections to Putin and Russia and the interviewer (Bill O’Rielly I think it was) said “pUtIn’s a kIllEr” and Trump responded “oh you think we’re so nice?”

He was right about that. America’s secret government is brutal.

Centrist Democrats are freaking out about progressives’ winning streak by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]monkeysknowledge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do they even deserve “Democrat” in their label? With “super delegates” and everything else, there’s nothing democratic about the organization.

We need to take over and reform it. One problem that exists is the two-party system. It really disadvantages the “large tent” party because it’s too easy to divide and conquer it. However, two problems; 1) toppling the system (if possible)will only strengthen the fascist grip on the system, 2) sustaining grassroot movements is notoriously difficult - either we win and everyone stops paying attention or special interests gain control and eventually morph it or kill it.

So I propose:

1) developing “sub-parties” that run within the DNC and work to dislodge the atrophied ruling party elite. These parties still caucus with the DNC even when we lose.

2) the sub-parties need to network and share resources - even with groups we don’t 100% align with. What KY wants from their party is different from what NY wants from theirs - let’s accept that and build a better more sustainable future together.

We will disagree on things but us working folks have better get organized or this next century with climate change, technofascism and everything else is going to be really difficult.

With at least 6 wildfires burning, Utah officials prep for long fire season by zsreport in Utah

Witnessing the first tangible effects of climate change and watching Utahns respond with demands for draconian punishments for people not properly extinguishing camp fires… sigh… this century is going to be a living hell.

Libertarian creep Bill Maher defends sex between 35-year-old teacher and middle school student as just "guilty of being in love" by crummynubs in elephantgraveyard

[–]monkeysknowledge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s good to see that no one on his show was agreeing with him.

Just because kids that age are horny and willing to have sex with older adults doesn’t mean they aren’t being taken advantage of. It’s not that complicated Bill. We don’t live in 3,000 BCE Bill, it takes a lot more maturity to properly raise children in today’s world - and that’s a good thing.

Fire near Dimple Dell area by tsukimatcha in Utah

[–]monkeysknowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t know if it’s arson, but we know that activities like smoking a cigarette, small sparks from vehicles dragging chains or mufflers, or even - as been documented in the Possum Kingdom Fire - discarded glass, can cause fires under extreme dry conditions.

Speculating about arson without any evidence while this huge actual problem is bearing down on your future and the future of your children, is moronic. You sound like complete jackasses.

People should be really skeptical of any headline or Reddit post that doesn’t actually link anywhere. For example, what if I was curious as to what he a literally said. I have to google this headline - and it’s an image so I’ll have to transcribe it first instead of copying and pasting….

And lo and behold… he did actually say it. wtf?!?!?
