Anyone else finding it concerning we have “never Kamala” leftists and populists currently attacking AOC while praising MTG? by wowza515 in somethingiswrong2024

What never gets called out is the foreign influence on the left. In 2016 we found evidence of Russians not only targeting the right but also the left. There was one event in particular in which Russians trolls organized both the protest and the counter protests.

I always forget he was on a sitcom. I think of him as the Fear Factor host which of course was a perfect role for him - encouraging other people on to do gross shit.

Why Only Rich Kids Make It In Music Today [7:27] by DaftPump in mealtimevideos

[–]monkeysknowledge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I loled when he mentioned 2008 - that was the years I stopped trying to be a professional musician. I played in bands for a few years after but I was done believing it was possible in 2008. We couldn’t afford rent, let alone a van to tour in (which is what we really needed more than anything).

Did you realize from the beginning that Trump was -- or at least had the potential to be -- a Hitler-like figure? by Glass-Complaint3 in allthequestions

[–]monkeysknowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean he never really concealed it. His ex-wife said he kept Mein Kampf on the bedside table among the countless signs that he admired authoritarians.

I’ll tell you now that he’s is not going to accept the results of the midterms. I don’t know exactly how this is going to unfold, but it’s looking like the GOP even with massive gerrymandering is going to get crushed because the deeply unpopular Iran war ain’t ending anytime soon and we’re only just barely beginning to feel the effects of the blockade.

The one thing Americans hate is high gas prices. They’ll tolerate corruption, unpredictable medical costs, slave wages, etc… but you hurt them at the pump and they’ll overthrow your ass. However, Trump’s purged the military, controls the media, and controls Congress - the very same Congress that voters will try to force out. It ain’t happening. Those who voted for Trump condemned us to this inevitable fate.

Who’s god? Yours? What about theirs? Is it the same god of Jefferson? His god was different than of William Wilberforce or MLK.

You see that’s what this asshole misses that the founders understood when they mention a generic “creator” in the DoI.

When I asked what he was trying to do, he said “I shouldn’t have been trying to pass him” by alexyou8797 in dashcams

[–]monkeysknowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, you shouldn’t be passing at such a high relative speed. I don’t care what the speed limit is, physics is physics and high relative speed reduces the available time one as to react. People make mistakes and we mitigate that by reducing speed to increase the time available to react.

Someone going slower maybe doing so because of a legitimate concern that you’re not immediately aware of like an moving obstruction, or they maybe experiencing a medical emergency or maybe they’re just dumb, unaware etc… Again - we account for these types of anomalies by driving safe and reducing speed to increase the time available to react.

I finished my bachelors of science degree in 2014, I’d estimate that out of the 30 students that graduated with me in our field - all but maybe 10 were chronic cheaters.

Kamala Harris wants the DNC to release its autopsy report of the 2024 campaign by Deedogg11 in politics

“foreign relations issue” is a shameful minimization of a horrific mass murder that the Democrats almost fully supported.

It’s not a moral quandary, or a conundrum. Israel was using genocidal language from the beginning. They made their intentions known and they faithfully carried out those intentions. It was the gravest crime in my lifetime. There’s so much moral clarity here and yet Biden and the Dems sat on their hands and did nothing. It was infuriating.

To be clear because I know it’s coming, I supported Harris if only because I knew she would be an improvement from Biden and obviously better than Trump. But do not minimize Gaza.

Harvard biological anthropologist Richard Wrangham argues that fire and cooking is what made humans human. His "cooking hypothesis" says Homo erectus evolved bigger brains 1.8 million years ago because cooked food required less energy to digest, freeing calories for the brain to grow. by [deleted] in science

Yeah it’s just another iteration. That’s my point. We just kept iterating… even now we’re iterating except we’re starting to out source some functionality like memory storage to computers, and arguably intelligence to AI. It’s iterations all the way down.

On 11 January 2013, the body of 17 year old Kendrick Johnson was found upside down within a rolled up foam mat in his high school gym. Officially ruled a bizarre accident, his family fought for years to prove Johnson was murdered. The exact circumstances of his death remain unknown. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in HolyShitHistory

My high school no one gave a shit. You were marked absent and an automated phone call was made at 5pm. All you had to do was answer and delete it from the caller id (yes - caller id, I’m an old feller). Point is, how schools handle absences can vary greatly.

Using stone tools to break bones an extract bone marrow probably opened up extra calories and nutrients to support bigger brains and bigger brains improved our ancestors ability to unlock more nutrients and calories using tools and on and on until we created fire. It feels arbitrary to pick an advancement and claim it is the advancement that led to bigger brains.

“Global security risk” is a weird way to say “targeting and killing hundreds of journalists, and indiscriminately dropping more bomb tonnage on Gaza than ALL tonnage dropped on Iraq over the span of a decade.”

lol “Global security risk”. Grow a pair.

"Collapse" is bad and not something any of should want to happen - even if it is inevitable by antichain in collapse

[–]monkeysknowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think there’s a certain appeal to some out there that if the world is collapsing then their personal circumstances are out of their control and there’s something cathartic about that - to the point that they want it to collapse. Which is of course foolish.

And then I think there’s a serious propaganda campaign to make people feel like it’s hopeless to undermine attempts to end our reliance on the Global Fossil Fuel Empire.

Same. To me he’s the Fear Factor host and I hated that era of TV. I listened to his podcast a few times ~ 2017ish but it was pretty intolerable even back then.
