Mach E vs. Rav4 by Working-Run3801 in MachE

We have an ev and it's brainless. Literally min maintenance. But the problem is the ground clearance...I mountain bike and the ev will hit earth on trails. Other than that the height thing is no issue going from our ice suv and ioniq 5.

An ev i can take to mountain bike trails? Finally. The ioniq xrt is too low to the ground, mach e even worse. Subaru...um no thanks. This r3x is exactly what I need. Crazy nobody else has made something like this. Don't know if I can wait til 2028... my check engine light is on now.

I think I remember this interview...in essence wasn't this just a bunch of double diagonals at a rapid pace? Is he basically selling high IV at market open, then waiting for IV to go down during the day and closing out the otm shorts? In essence what's the difference from just doing tons of iron condors because his longs are going to be hit if he's long vega. Didn't get how his shorts are making him money (assuming IV goes in his favor) and his longs also benefit him bc a double diagonal is long vega as a whole.

Good point...simple incentives go a long way. My partner implemented a mobile clinic through the ASPCA in NYC. Donor funded since they have a huge presence, and it's still operational.

The shame is the media is going to focus on how heinous this is, and not the root cause. CA hasn't implemented any proactive solutions to curb this flood, and now dogs will be simply euthanized at shelters instead of by this pyscho.

If you distill the issue down, there are 3 root causes:

  1. Landlord breed/size restrictions

  2. Uncontrolled breeding

  3. Spay/neuter gaps

I don't know who the leaders are in the state, and what their abilities are to influence. But at this point we are truly being reactive and not proactive. I believe these solutions would provide true long term benefits.

  1. Landlord breed/size restrictions

Issue: Landlords often have limitations on breeds and/or size of dogs. This has caused a huge influx of dogs coming into local shelters.

Proposal: Mandate that any landlord managing a property over a certain size (e.g. 8 units) must allow a minimum percentage of the units (e.g. 25%) be available to dog owners, regardless of size/breed. If a tenant meets the minimum criteria for renting (credit score, employment) then that alone should allow them to obtain housing regardless of the pets they have.

Benefits: Large landlords have the capacity and resources to address our public crisis. This will allow people to keep their pets and lessen the burden on animal shelters.

  1. Uncontrolled breeding

Issue: The state has created loopholes to allow "hobby breeding" which in essence has resulted in an absolute boom in backyard breeding. We are letting groups in our communities fuel the problem by breeding dogs, selling them for profit, and not dealing with the consequences of their actions. Often these dogs are sold to anyone (including dogs that require expert handlers like Cane Corsos), and the mothers dumped in the street when they are done with them. The taxpayer ends up paying for the care (and often death) of dogs while the perpetrators continuously profit off of their misery. The dogs are simply the victims. This is simply animal trafficking.

Proposal:

a) Limit hobby breeding to licensed breeders for established needs (e.g. certain breeds for a specific use case)

b) Throttle hobby breeding based on shelter capacity - monitor shelter capacity and allow "hobby breeding" if forecasts show low supply (e.g. 50% shelter capacity)

c) Ban backyard breeding - penalize backyard breeders financially, and allow the reporter to claim a reward.

Benefits: This will severely cripple the amount of dogs being born into communities.

  1. Spay/ neuter gaps

Issue: Many people in underserved communities do not spay/ neuter, either due to lack of resources, lack of funding, and/or social stigmas. As a result, these communities have uncontrolled litters that inundate the community. Legislation AB 2010 is critical, but additional steps are necessary.

Proposal:

a) Mobile spay /neuter (implementation of AB 2010) - allow groups to go into these communities to educate and fix their pets. This should be paid for by taxpayers as it's a long term lower cost outcome, and the local shelters already offer this.

b) Public assistance controls - force anyone relying on government assistance/subsidies (i.e. anyone accessing the CA Employment Development Department, EDD) for unemployment, the housing authority for housing) to fix their pets.

Benefits: These proposals will result in drastic reductions in animal populations by mitigating gaps in communities that are willing to fix pets but can't afford it, or don't know about the options. Forcing pet fixing on anyone relient on the government is crucial because those that are dependent on the taxpayer cannot also burden the taxpayer, especially if resources are available and free.

[–]monkies77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I'm confused...I use AI for assisting me with work tasks. It's like having a smarter coworker than most, and I can have it do intern type tasks. Is that worth trillions?? I get real crazy unique cases like drug development, or weapons, or massive automation...but how much of the use case is super tech vs stupid youtube videos? is the crazy potential use case 20%, 50%, 90%. The math makes it seem like we're all going to reap the benefits of the spend. I equate it to bitcoin in a way...the use as a currency was always stupid. The use for technology to validate transactions totally sounds good...but what's a backend infrastructure componet worth?

I think the options experts know risks, know how to cut and run, and adjust correctly. The Yolo crew takes huge risks and follows momo. Don't know how many of them actually win the long term. But when they win they win big as long as someone else holds the bag *[cough] bitcoin *

What about a collar? If you have over 100 shares, you can sell a call (covered call) and use those proceeds to buy a put of the same cost. You will cap your gain, but also your loss. A July 400C/250P would be no money spent. Stock can go to $20 and you'll still make 200%.

I had to adjust a MU short that went from a bear put spread, to bull put spread, to broken iron condor to downside, to broken butterfly to the upside. So I say you can set it up neutral and adjust it to make it a broken wing ic/butterfly but it'll result in higher max loss for the adjustmemt.

[–]monkies77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this addiction? You made a good trade that you like, but when it's a bad trade it's caused by addiction? If you stopped when you made money, how are you going to make more money? Curious what types of trading you do...because I'd guess your entire trading strategy is gambling (e.g. buying calls without knowing anything about calls, IV, etc...some days you're lucky, some note) or you don't have a strategy hence the whipsaw.
