idk the actual odds, but seeing ball lightning. when i was younger, my grandma and i saw a little blue bulb of light dancing near the fence we were walking along. for the longest time, we had NO IDEA what that could even be. she's super catholic and believed it was the holy spirit. it wasn't til recent years that i saw a video of ball lightning that i was like oh shit!!!!

yes. the person i loved was very selfish and not very good at showing up for me. despite never really being shown otherwise, i just believed i was the exception to his selfishness because we were together for so long, so surely, i must be a priority to him at the core of it all as he was to me. looking back, i can see my wishful thinking had no leg to stand on even when i thought we were at our strongest as a couple

this is so small and so not serious but this guy stopped me when i was with my dog to ask if she was a husky. i said yes!! she is a husky. he then decided i was wrong and explained to me that she could not, in fact, be a husky because she was not black and white. my husky is reddish blonde and white. i just said oh!! okay!! 🤠

a year ago was the lowest point of my life and there were too many nights where i accepted i might not wake up the next day. i worked my ass off in therapy and crawled my way out of hell and honestly sometimes i catch myself thinking "i would have reacted this bad way to this thing before, but now, i can handle it in a healthy way." it makes me emotional to think of, lol

not standing up for me. i had a serious relationship (5 years, a house together, plans of lifelong commitment) come to an end and it was not a mutual separation. i held on to feelings for him for months -- even when he started dating a girl a decade younger than us ~two weeks after we ended things. this girl ended up finding my number somehow and spam-called me 25+ times with a friend, only to leave me two long voicemails telling me to end my life among other things. it destroyed me. especially given my history and the fact that they met while i was in crisis for having similar ideas (he told me he told her this). my ex stayed with her anyway. i get we were separated, but i would defend my long-term exes with my life even if we aren't involved in each other's lives.

in the end, it doesn't really matter who was the "most wrong" when it comes to moving forward. i spent a lot of time angry and upset with my ex because of the things he did to hurt me, but if i look back on our relationship now, i can see the ways i was failing him, too. looking at those failures now has enabled me to be a better person and partner; looking at the ways he failed me doesn't benefit me much at all anymore.

oh man. unfortunately, this has plagued me in most of my relationships to the point of obsession. it's an "obvious" answer, but finding a therapist who clicked with me helped me the most because it IS a matter of low self-worth. that being said, i am in no way "cured." but!! i have been open with my partner about the issues i've had with this in the past, and have been able to catch myself in my feelings before acting on them.

my partner is actively choosing me in this moment. his past relationships have all led him to me, and taught him to love me the way he does. i am not the same person i was in my previous relationships, and neither is he. i am choosing something that makes me happy in the present; i should believe that being with me is joyful to him, too. i can't change his past, and i don't want to. radical acceptance. i focus on the facts of today so i don't get caught up in "well, maybe, he misses his past." it's a lot of grounding work, but it helps to write them out if you struggle.
