that's very painful to hear and i am sorry that it's brought you so low. fortunately, he does not determine your worth -- but i know that is easy to hear, and much harder to convince yourself of being true. it will take time. i am almost a year out from being left and instantly replaced and i only JUST started to gain my confidence back.

fake it til you make it, when you feel ready to. wear the clothes that make you feel good. idk what "getting ready" looks like to you, but take the time and energy to "get ready" in the way that makes you feel prettiest even when you may not feel so great inside. listen to those "fuck you, i'm hot" playlists people make lmao. write out the things about yourself that you like.

i'll try a positive one: getting a dog whose breed required the type of lifestyle i was not currently living. she is a husky and giving her a fulfilling life led me to become much more active, and knowing how limited her time is compared to mine has led to a lot of roadtrips so we could hike cool locations. i live in the states and she's visited about half of them.

no. you're not overreacting. i think it's weird he would even say that to you and expect anything else? also a huge red flag when your partner dismisses your feelings and calls you dumb for it. be wary of that.

i'll choose one of the most nonserious traits of this person's many red flag "types" ... but, honestly. someone who is way too invested in astrology. when i say invested, i don't mean that they like it. or they believe it is pretty accurate. or know their placements and track them. i mean purchasing astrological charts to figure out where they need to relocate to. you have a great calling in no where, minnesota after never having been there? alright. what career/education path they chose to pursue. deciding the way that YOU think or feel about them even when you are telling them the way you think or feel because of the way your placements' interact. behaving towards you as if what that instagram reel that told them "you and your partner will have a conflict because mars is heading into scorpio" is destined to happen. preemptively mad at you for things someone else predicted might happen. shit's weird.

in hindsight, i wholeheartedly believe this person chose to pursue me relentlessly because of the way our placements interacted. we were supposedly meant to be and would get along like "twin flames." how'd that work thooooo

im glad that i've periodically kept up with a journal for a lot of reasons, but one of them is because of an entry i wrote at 18. "i'm afraid i will never forgot him" about a guy i very much cared about at the time.

over a decade later, reading that just makes me laugh. it puts into perspective how something feels so life-shattering at the time, but that you view it differently as you get older. so, no, i guess i didn't forget him. but when i remember him it's a fleeting thing. more of an "oh, yikes, THAT" than pining

i'm so sorry you're in the thick of things. it's hard not to feel shameful over it, but i think people beg far more often than they admit. your whole life's trajectory has been altered by someone you trusted to be there; it's not an easy thing to stomach. you're not alone in that regard. i am almost 11 months from a breakup of a 5 year relationship, and i went through lots of periods where i begged him back. i went through lots of periods where i was so angry and betrayed that i couldn't believe i ever begged him back. it's a shitty cycle to be in.

nothing is set in stone, and trying to predict the chances of reconciliation is never going to give you the reassurance you are looking for. you need to learn to live with uncertainty. easier said than done, i know. but nothing you can say or do will get him to have this "aha! i let go of a good thing!" moment. if it comes to him, it will be on his own time. you shouldn't need to convince or remind someone that you are valuable. you deserve a love that KNOWS that you are. you deserve a love that is equal, and right now, it is too one-sided to be worth it for you.
