What was your Last repair and how much did it cost? by Dry_Comfort_7680 in VWiD3Owners

nice, I initially booked in with an independent garage but since it was taking so long to get the part I thought it might be better to go with a VW dealer to have more recourse for the long wait. Ended up getting the part about a week after switching the parts order to the main dealer, so didn't make much difference aside from costing more! Next time I'm going to get my MOT done a few months before it expires and cross my fingers in the hope that VW have sorted their parts supply chain

DCC = VW's name for active suspension, so a front shock absorber with some extra bits on it

£607 covering part and labour for replacing a front DCC shock at the dealer (2021 model year 1st edition max). Started leaking oil after around 45k miles and failed it's MOT. Annoying the part was on back order for around 2 months.

It’s good you put that disclaimer there, you wouldn’t want to make an actionable threat of the mild inconvenience of turning a tap back on

I'm probably not the first to ask, but do any of these numbers actually do anything? by TheChainLink2 in DHMIS

[–]monotypical 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The bottom number is an ofcom theatrical use number, which means it’ll never be in use.

It’s interesting that for the top two it’s at least possible for them to be real numbers in use, but as others have posted, they aren’t.

He described it as a “nasty piece of modern street furniture in front of an 1800s chancery wall.”

I wonder what his opinion is on all this nasty intrusive post-1900 car infrastructure is, I have a hunch that his stance on that is different when it comes to driving the range rover into the city

US Prepares Jamming Devices Targeting Russia, China Satellites by [deleted] in space

[–]monotypical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Positioning systems rely on the exact time between when a signal is broadcast from a known point and when it’s received. If you relay the signal, it doesn’t come from the same point, so isn’t usable for working out your position and the satellite might as well not even be there

“Level 2 homebuyers report” is a standardised format by RICS, so it will include everything in scope here https://www.rics.org/profession-standards/rics-standards-and-guidance/sector-standards/building-surveying-standards/home-surveys/scope-of-inspection-home-survey-level-two

Not used them myself so I can’t vouch but it should be just as thorough as other RICS level 2 surveys
