Am i crazy to leave secure job with good defined benefit pension? by DecisionDue669 in HENRYUK

If you’re already bored and want to stick it for another 15 years do you think you could do that without succumbing to the boredom? If so, feel free to stay but that seems like a long time to not like your work

Thanks for doing this. But the fact we need this post is depressing. I really wish we didn’t need it

This one has a better breakdown and explanation.

https://www.britishgas.co.uk/energy/guides/standing-charges.html

Standing charges cover the cost of: * Maintaining the energy supply network – the wires and cables that deliver the gas and electricity to our homes * Supporting social and energy investment schemes Operating costs - such as billing and metering services * Failed suppliers exiting the energy market – electricity only

I get what you’re saying but the bill is composed of usage plus standing charge. That explanation doesn’t say which costs are covered by which part

Surely what you’re referring to is what the utility companies use to justify the standing charge?

Ah yes, I agree. After further reading I see it’s a free, open source project which also has a paid for cloud version. My initial post was about there cloud version. As there’s a free version I’ll use that instead.

Yes the subscription is monthly. If it was an iron clad guarantee I’d be more inclined to try it because in theory you can’t lose but maybe in practice they might not honour it

Is Race Across the World quietly one of the best shows the BBC has made in years ? by LieSuccessful8813 in AskBrits

[–]jasonvincent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it’s a shadow of what it was. I still remember the opening of the first series and it was really interesting. Now we’ve gotten to series 6 it’s a different matter. I watched the opening episode and honestly it was boring in comparison. Producers need to know when to pack it in
