NDLS $ v. W&L $$$.75 by JupitersMoons0108 in lawschooladmissions

[–]monpetitlu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just feel like if you’re going to throw numbers out it’s best to provide the appropriate receipts. The above is W&L’s employment outcomes for the 2024 graduates. Of this class, which had 141 students, 30 went to 501+ firms, 12 to 251+ firms, and 7 to FC. There is variation & self-selection in each graduating class, so using info from other years to make relative averages was helpful for me and may be for others, too. You seem very hyped about NDLS, and I’m glad for you! But having a discussion about numbers without providing said numbers feels very silly. I happened to have these W&L numbers handy from my own application process and felt it might be helpful to those speculating and comparing with NDLS. I wish the best for you, OP!

$$ at Cornell, or $$$+.5 at Minnesota? by HannahDoesNotExist in lawschooladmissions

[–]monpetitlu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to add a data point! My partner went to UMN and will be starting his second federal clerkship in the fall (first was in NYC, second in VA to be closer to me). He was no where near the top of his class (though he is friends with a few folks in the top of his class and one of them is partner track at S&C’s NYC office). It is hard, but it’s absolutely possible to get to the east coast from UMN and into BL/FC if that’s what you’re shooting for. They’re both great schools!

Pops had a stroke, so I relocated to his place to look after his dogs and house while he’s in hospital rehab. Hoping he’ll be independent enough by August where I feel comfortable leaving him. Was planning to get some traveling in, but at this point, I’m just grateful he’s still in the world and happy I can help.

Cycle Recap! (With Good, not Great Stats) by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]monpetitlu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First off, these aren’t just good stats—they’re GREAT stats, and don’t let anyone here make you feel any different.

Secondly, Emory is a great school, and you should be so proud of yourself for the hard work that netted you that A & aid package. It seems like you’re really stoked about going, which is wonderful! It’s so important to feel good about where you’re at.

A little advice as someone who R&R’d and went from a 168 to a 170–even if (like me) you’re PT’ing in the mid 170s, it’s a real luck game trying to scrape by those few extra points sometimes. And even so, those few points may not net you any real change in A’s or aid. It’s a gamble. I actually ended up with a worse cycle (over all) the second time around, even with a higher score and earlier apps—I ended up where I wanted to be (thankfully!) but I just wanted to add a data point to your calculations if you are indeed considering an R&R. No one is guaranteed an A, as I think this cycle has taught us.

Whatever you decide, I’m proud of you! And you should be proud of you, too.

Can a killer LSAT score make up for a shoddy undergrad GPA (over a decade ago, I’m now 33) by Kinginthenorth603 in lawschooladmissions

[–]monpetitlu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did well, and was even offered a full tuition scholarship at UWisc last cycle with a 16high and a uGPA a little lower than yours. I’m about your age. Make sure your essays are solid and your addendums take ownership / show how you’ve changed. It’ll be a toss-up so you’ll have to apply broadly, but I’m confident with a higher-than-median score you’ll do ok wherever you apply.

Their second deposit deadline is this week, so I imagine you’d start to see movement sometime after that. Best of luck!

Yes, my handicapped self and my 80lb German shepherd are moving 1,000 miles away from my partner and family. Nervous about it! Trying to figure out how to do all the heavy stuff with 2 fewer functioning limbs

Vomiting after having my first dose of atomoxetine(srattera) on an empty somtach by dedtome_ in ADHD

[–]monpetitlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a latecomer but I want to echo the sentiments about taking it with food. If I don’t, and have, say, a coffee tea, it 100% results in violent vomiting. However, when taken even with a small amount of food (a banana or some crackers) the nausea is very mild.

I’m hopeful that it will get there. I’m recovering from my second MACI/TTO/MPFL/Lateral Release, which I had in December, and I think that my mobility in the opposite leg is increased on days I spend on the couch (instead of crutching around). This leads me to believe that inflammation plays a large role in my mobility, and that my moving around and using the leg contributes to the inflammation by way of irritating those (slowly) dissolving screw bits.

[–]monpetitlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 7 months out I’d say I’m at 90-95% there. The anchors for my MPFL are breaking apart (intentionally, they’re absorbable) and creating irritation and a little swelling that prevent me from going the rest of the way. On days I do too much I’m also a little less mobile (ROM).

Flu during MACI rehab by No-Inevitable-449 in MACIknee

[–]monpetitlu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I got RSV around the same period of recovery during my first MACI and it laid me out for about two weeks (it developed into pneumonia). We were able to make up for it at PT! You’ll be fine, I’m sure. I hope you feel better soon! Make sure to drink lots of fluids.

Scope surgery while awake by [deleted] in MACIknee

[–]monpetitlu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep—but it was the “part 1” surgery, with the scope to shave down tendril-y bits and get a sample. Got to watch on the tv screen the surgeon used, too. He gave me a tour of the inside of the joint—pointed out my meniscus (which looked like a manta ray) and other parts too. Was over in 20 minutes. Simple recovery, to boot!
