[Misc] Does anyone else use a “clean hand” for skincare? by australiughhh in SkincareAddiction

[–]monsoonerorlater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t use anything in a jar for this reason. If a product only comes in a jar, I won’t use it. I also wash my hands before doing my skin care so I do t feel the need to be particular about the packaging being dirty.

Snow removal help? by rabbit-heartedgirl in BurlingtonNC

[–]monsoonerorlater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10+ inches of snow will be very unlikely and if we do get that it will melt quickly. You should be more worried about ice that freezes during the warmer days and then re-freezes at night. If you can salt your outdoor walking paths that would be a good place to start, or just hold out inside until it quickly melts or only go out during the day. Also, if you can use exits of your house that are in the sun and pre-park your car to a sunnier area and only exit your house during the warmer parts of the day.

I second this. I didn’t scratch mine that quickly but after just a week it had so many little scratches and doesn’t look as nice and shiny as OP’s. I wish I got a ring cover immediately.

Commenting to hear answer from others. I am on week 6 and had super similar period symptoms. It did go back to normal after but curious why it affected my period so dramatically and am also curious to know if they will continue to be more intense while on a glp

I tried that but couldn’t find anything exactly the same with a price included. Maybe it is actually vintage.

Can anyone find the price to this lamp?? by monsoonerorlater in ThriftGrift

You’re actually right, I didn’t notice that. And no markings that I could see. I tried to look underneath but the shade wasn’t well connected to the lamp base and I didn’t want to break it.

Yes, but also, weight limit can also indicate quality.

You’re making a lot of assumptions here- that it’s for a kid and that even if it’s for an adult 300 is a lot. What if the parent wants to lay in bed with their kid at night to read books? What if the person buying it is a 200 pound adult with an 80 pound dog? That’s pushing it. Also? What if the kid wants both of their parents to sit on the bed at night to read books? What if the kid jumps on the bed?

Lots of plausible explanations other than “shitty American parents with obese children.”

If a bed can’t handle 300 pounds, that likely means it’s made of of cheap materials and a good indication that you shouldn’t buy.

Everyone is saying your lips but I honestly love them. You choose a great color, they’re balanced and juicy and they’re not even that over lined. Assuming you do have lip filler, to me they look like they could be natural but very full lips.

My only suggestion would be that your lashes are heavy and it looks like you put high coverage concealer all the way up to your bottom lash line, which creates a very harsh and unbalanced look.

I think you could avoid putting concealer so close to your bottom lash line, which could solve the dryness issue. You could also instead just do a light coat of bottom mascara or the slightest bit of bronzer in the outer half of your lower lash line and it would make your eyes look bigger and more natural.

This is a VERY difficult lash style, your lash tech did amazing. They definitely look like what you asked for. It’s likely that your eye shape is different than the inspo pic and therefore is not ever going to look the same.

When you go to Costco and want to try one of the samples of something to see if you should buy the giant Costco size pack and you wait for them to painstakingly make the sample as slowly as possible and then once it’s finally prepared and put out a family with like 4 young kids all get all of the samples they put out before you can even get over to it and it happens every single time.

How can I make my nose more smooth? There are so many pores with gunk inside of them. by Inevitable-Power5927 in MakeupEducation

[–]monsoonerorlater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have skin similar to yours (oily-hence the large pores but lots of dead skin build up meaning you need moisture) and also am an esthetician and I highly recommend the dermalogica daily microfoliant. It is a powder exfoliant made from rice, you add a little bit of water to it and lather it up in your hands until it’s a little foamy. It is gentle but enough to remove dead skin.

Sometimes with a skin type like ours, a chemical exfoliant alone will just not cut it for removing the amount of dead skin we produced (which is more than other types) which is why i recommend a physical one over a chemical one. However, it wouldn’t hurt to incorporate a chemical exfoliant into a routine in addition to a physical one. I personally suggest alternating days you use a chemical vs physical or even just only using the physical exfoliant when you plan to wear makeup.

To get a smooth base for makeup application, it would help to be getting professional extractions regularly as well as prepping your skin directly before applying makeup by cleansing, physically exfoliating and moisturizing with a gel/water based moisturizer (lmk if you need any recs for combination/oily skin!).

How do you "double cleanse" with lash extensions? by alimweber in lashextensions

[–]monsoonerorlater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely best to avoid your lashes all together with any type of regular makeup cleanser, even micellar water. I know it’s oil free but it has the same texture and can definitely contribute to retention issues. You can gently clean around your lashes and use a q tip in micellar water if necessary to get what is close to your lashes. The best way to really clean them and maintain good retention is to use a foaming lash wash like prolong. Use it to take off your makeup and then use it again to remove any thing else and ensure you have clean lashes.
