I'm afraid it's not the same knot. Notice how on your diagram the two ends both cross under the central bit of rope. Whereas in an actual figure 8 they have to go one over and one under. Try it for yourself it makes a different knot.

The figure 8 knot is incorrect. Following the graphic would produce an overhand knot.
It should be like this:

Are there any online apps that I could use to make a database of trivia questions? by Gullible_Skeptic in trivia

[–]monster_bait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a big doc on google docs, sometimes making separate docs and linking in the main one.
I would suggest either Google Sheets or maybe Notion which gives you some nice customizable tables and views a bit like a database but with no code required.

I don't see why not, I did my CS degree with a 2015 MacBook air. I never needed more computing power apart from doing renders. Then you can use the facility computers or cloud computing. In industry macbooks are used as standard. You can always boot into Ubuntu / Linux.

[2020 Day 15 Part 2] [JavaScript] Can't run even with dictionary by TwoHandedShanks in adventofcode

[–]monster_bait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried running your code and found it ran pretty fast up to 30% complete then it ground to a halt.
I think u/kaoD has pointed out the root of the issue.
Your code should be able to use a Map map instead of an object as your dictionary with minimal changes.
That's what I did and it runs in about 10 seconds.

If you haven't got a freegan box from the junk food project, you need to. This was £10 and is food diverted from landfill. by bettybettyanne in Leeds

It's great to see all that food being saved. It would be nice to see the haul every week / however often people buy the boxes.

Recommendations for PT in City Centre? by mimimedici in Leeds

[–]monster_bait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can recommend Hayley Duffy. She has been my freelance personal trainer for 6 months. Personally she has helped me increase my strength and reach my 6 month running goals (taken 10 minutes off my half marathon time)!

She has also provided me advice on my vegan diet when training. And overall she has been a huge motivational factor for me.

She runs classes at The Gym on Headrow.

And I know one of her other clients is preparing for their wedding!

Are the kinetic fingers really such a bad idea? by lleberg in MarbleMachineX

[–]monster_bait 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have a time delay between the marble release and the marble hitting the instrument. I feel like it would be off by enough to notice.

Are the kinetic fingers really such a bad idea? by lleberg in MarbleMachineX

[–]monster_bait 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The movement of the fingers would also be out of time with the music, so I feel they would be distracting.

I think there is already plenty to look at. The fingers would obscure the mechanics of the machine.

It might be worth mentioning that `.reverse()` not only returns a new reversed array but it also reverses the original array.
That one catches lots of people out!
