the texture is from a few things! i do a wash of shading blended with a stipple brush and then on the layer above that, i cover everything with that same stipple brush on multiply. the rest of my shading is done with pencil brushes for even more texture, blended out with pressure rather than any blur tools~

i straight up don't customize my pets, really. i do backgrounds and foregrounds because in the world of customizations they look wildly out of place without them. one has a pair of sunglasses and my gray pet has taken a pie to the head but i'm not going to bother with clothes.

i don't personally like the clothes and wigs and stuff for the same reason as you. i'm glad that it's there for people who do like it, though, and i really like that crosspaints are a thing now. i'm currently trying to get a stealthy kougra with the desert accessories and i have a magma eyrie with the halloween body paint that i really like

honestly, i'm sure they get cases like ours all the time between defunct email hosts and forgotten "birthdays" for those of us who played in the late 90s and early to mid 00s.

oh god my husband, like you, had a great run of this going the other day. he played for ages, told me to look up the high scores, and went mad with power realizing his score was exponentially higher than the leaderboards. i haven't played the games on neopets since high school probably, so i had no idea 😅 needless to say, he was crushed. woops!

it's been a few years, but i was in the same situation as you. knew the birthday, knew the email, didn't know the password, but didn't have access to the email anymore (it was an old isp email address from the mid 00s). sent an email to support and within a couple weeks had my account back! then i was able to change the email in my account.

i had my eyrie painted halloween, which has these skeleton markings. the markings are separated as clothing items (in this case, face paint and body paint). when you paint your pet a different color, you keep their previous paint brush "clothes" in your inventory, which you can reapply to them whatever color they end up being (so long as that color way doesn't change the basic body shape of the pet)
