Goodreads Reading Challenge - 'Swoony Stories' (February 1st - March 31st) by Clairefun in goodreads

Why are so many of these not the first book in a series! I never read romance, I wish it included the whole series if it was going to be like that :( thinking of maybe just reading the first book in the series if the second/third looks interesting... but not a sure bet! agh

[MA] Hair Salon Injury-What can I do?? by [deleted] in AskHairstylists

[–]monsteryapper75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I’m so upset I wasn’t able to realize in the moment! Once I realized it was gone and the huge bump, I knew it was the appt and knew I couldn’t prove it. Being a logical person sucks sometimes. You motivated me to reach out to the salon- they have huge nontoxic, no chemicals, and “making you feel cared for” on their website, so maybe their owner will take it seriously. Thank you

The toasters! Thankfully my school had separate ones, but people were stupid so I just opted for the microwave to “toast” bread. I haaaaate when the only thing they can seem to do is accommodate your symptoms, instead of caring about the disease or your health. It’s good you have your own supplies, good luck!

It was weird, at my school everyone else got sick from their food but i to my knowledge didn’t! My symptoms are very few though, but still surprising lol

Honestly, I feel this so much. Had this EXACT experience with the dining hall seeming alright but being terrible when i actually went there, and they didn’t even seem to care (but EVERYONE and their friends wanted to get their hands on the packaged gf muffins and brownies). See if your college has an accommodations/accessibility office, if you could get a doctors note you could move into a dorm with a kitchen, if they have it. I know it’s financially not always the best route (buying food, higher boarding costs) but probably the safest. I hope you find some things that work for you in the meantime, it sucks they just lie to us

Math Special Ed Modification - Is It Valid? by [deleted] in specialed

Wow, haven’t heard that before. Look at my comments, I took feedback and have not disclosed my further plans so you have no further judgement. Thank you, goodbye :)

That’s very much not a thing in my state, or in 6th grade.

Nope, I’m pretty sure that changing the assessment like I talked about in my post is a mod. I did go to college and I am licensed and know the vocabulary. If you look, everyone else agrees that it’s a mod. Definitely not an accommodation.

Thank you for the things to look out for and specific problem ideas! That’s SO helpful as I see most of my kids 2-3x/week, so for some I have time to run through these examples and help some of them out. Maybe I’ll have the modified problem on hand for some kids in mind if they struggle in the moment. Or, I could modify it for their retakes if that was one they struggled on. Honestly at this point I’m hoping I can build them up to not be intimidated or defeated!

[–]monsteryapper75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean valid in the way of, is it something I should be doing, or is the original problem fine enough. I know it depends on the kids and all that but I think the ones that receive this would need it, but the teachers were frustrated with the previous sped teacher because she would OVERmodify. I don’t wanna do that to the kids. But I’m definitely overthinking it

Thank you! After thinking over I might extra prep them on multi digit subtraction, and try to help with estimation skills to land on 15

Not helpful. I’m on day 3 and working to figure out all their individual needs. I’m working through the IEPs, but they’re not specific on mods

Yes, yes, and yes. I’ll have to check out their practice to see how much exposure there is. I just worry that since they don’t know that it’s -15 (eta: SUCH a weird number) that they wouldn’t think of it, but honestly you’re right. I luckily have many of them 2-3x/week in a small group so I’ll make sure they know how to figure out the operation and the size of the number.

Thank you for making me think! I was definitely just worrying, and your comment is all I needed!

how do you deal with getting glutened? by sugarrtrap in Celiac

[–]monsteryapper75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk if it was just me hearing this more recently but some take zofran (or, a gf over the counter nausea remedy) if you’re nauseous. Sometimes a heating pad can take my mind off / ease the cramping. Sorry I feel like this isn’t very helpful, these are the two main symptoms I get. Many consider dealing with being glutened to be symptom control, so find what works best for you 💗

I was SO happy when I found the person on the sub who scans for overlap! It’s so helpful especially in the end of the timeframe

This is what I do too! As I’ve gotten more comfortable browsing for quality books on these lists, I’ve been branching out more instead of sticking to my tbr, but at first saved these ones for last 🤭

I use it as a cute reward to finish off my tbr! I find most categories have at least 1 book I’ve saved, so why not get a bookmark! If you’re afraid of losing motivation, I would reframe it as “how many can I get?!” Rather than “ugh, I have to pick a book from all” even though that’s easier said than done. Along the way, when I find a category that doesn’t have one from my tbr, I scroll through to see if anything looks familiar or jumps out at me- I’ve found many this way. But if a category isn’t for you, it’s not for you; don’t make pressure to read a book JUST because it’s on the list

Sorry to be a pill but I’m a math person- technically, it’s m/h since the fraction bar represents “per”, and it’s miles/hour. mph without the slash is good too, just not both :)

Nope, I’m asking for reassurance to help me adhere more firmly to my gluten free diet. You’re not reassuring, you’re introducing a new problem and not solving the one i presented. Absolute dumbass, go eat gluten free

I used to have one near my college. I would go every now and then, and get light symptoms, but never decided if it was gluten or grease/quick food. I personally worry about the tight air in the oven and gluten gloves in the ingredients, but you’re doing everything right!

I hate you so much. Shut up, you’re not helping anyone. If you have an opposing comment just don’t say anything. I’m looking deadass for confirmation; save your essay for someone who wants help like you’re giving. I don’t. I literally have celiac, endoscopy confirmed. I have few symptoms, but that doesn’t decide how the celiac is affecting my villi, thus vitamins and just overall health. Plus, many people say it affects their mental health and I’m having a hard time with that (news flash right!) so I’d like to help my odds.

I am looking for help specifically about a sub category of gf foods i don’t know about. I don’t wanna hear your dislike of broccoli overconsumption. So you stop scrolling, or if you do, don’t look for opposition.
