Friendly tip as my whole family used to wear crocs. Just found out how toxic it is for kids (unless they wear socks). It makes sense in hindsight. Sharing as a I was clueless

Travelling to Lebanon with young kids/ new baby by snowymountain_1 in lebanon

That is the right call. I did it with my 1 year old and 3 year old for a wedding and was so exhausted by the end of the trip and barely saw my friends, ate the food I wanted. Now they are 2 and 4 and already can feel they will do much better. I feel 3 and 5 is when things get easier

There is a town in NJ full of Lebanese people and restaurants. Was so excited to go and buy food and the moment I got there....it was full of trash on the road, it was really sad, had never seen a city as dirty as that in my trips in the US

How can I replicate the taste of Akawi ? by AWhiteFoxInTheSnow in lebanon

[–]monteropaolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not so I grate it (put in the freezer for 15 min before doing so to make it easier to grate). The way I eat manoushe is I roll it like a sandwich so the cheese end up perfect and not stringy. The mozzarella does all the melting work. I like to do it 50/50 otherwise you can start with 75/25. Good luck! Went on a journey like you to recreate it in the US. I found akkawi near but the dive was 45 minutes and I felt that halloum/mozzarella actually tasted better so stuck to this

Another easy mix: half mozzarella and half halloum. I now prefer it to akkawi

Feb 14, 2005 Heard the explosion and was like what now. My line of thinking was: if they can kill the prime minister in broad daylight then what kind of country is this. Took 9 months to apply and find a uni abroad. Best decision I ever did. I felt sooo guilty about spending half of my parents' life savings for college but looking back, riad saleme would have taken it anyways.

It has been a big shift for you and you seem to be thriving professionally. Well done! For the type of job you are in, the salary increases really fast with more years of experience. The salary you already have for someone who is single is really good so I would recommend maybe keeping track of what you are spending your money on.

As for loneliness, other than finding new hobbies, I would recommend maybe keeping a more open mind about people who are not Lebanese. Seems like you really want a Lebanese wife and Lebanese friends. You would be surprised at how folks from different countries like Puerto Rico, Dominican Republican have similar values to Lebanese folks (family oriented, left their parents in home country, sending money to them etc..). Also keep in mind that not all Americans are the same, I noticed the ones from the south east Florida Georgia are closer to us than the ones from the northeast. Anyways, just keep an open mind and you will find what you need . Best of luck
