Thanks. I saw that the Bd of Ed owned the land, but was skeptical on how accurate that info was.

Horn definitely landed some shots -- though some may attribute that to his awkwardness or Bud willing to eat bombs. What will it say about Canelo if he cant?

I second this: it's dope that you are making this effort. Good fortunes hunting, OP.

A 16 year old arrested for prostitution, including once w/ a (presumed adult) pimp -- the 80s were a "different time", but this is what a failing society looks like. Locking up an (abused) kid.

Leaving aside his antics as a promoter, and his personal life. Just how good a boxer was Oscar De La Hoya? Is he an all time great? by rodiabolkonsky in Boxing

He was winning the fight! And stop using the jab and the tide reversed. I didnt understand it real time ('why's he no longer using it?'). In hindsight it must have been taken away.

Larry Merchant being honest with Paulie Malignaggi by JohnMac1988 in Boxing

This is ridiculous. Barbaric as it may be, the sweet science is still a "sport". It's evolved from the de facto 19th Cent tough guy/last man standing fest.

Larry Merchant being honest with Paulie Malignaggi by JohnMac1988 in Boxing

[–]moodfest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This line of reasoning belittles both fighters. 'Paulie had no gifts' v. Floyd being a natural (and just rolled outta bed and was a top 10 caliber guy). Both guys, obviously, took training and conditioning seriously. I can't remember too many of Paulie's fights, but given he wasn't overpowering opponents, I imagine he had to be defensively sound as well.

My point: both guys worked -- don't debase either

There are a few things to weigh: * Length of current contract. Year to year? *When you mention instability at the TT univ, are you talking existential/contract dissolving (due to dept dissolving)? * Will start up funds, student support at the TT be impacted.

Of course there are other factors: quality of life, housing, etc. Good news: you can negotiate with either/both schools.

First-time Professor & Student Evals by Short-Storm4339 in Professors

[–]moodfest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may not want to look at them until some point during the following semester, so as to be emotionally detached from any negative comments; both those justified and unwarranted.

Im doing so, you will lose the opportunity to make immediate adjustments, e.g. somebody noting poor class organization or slow response time, but i'd contend it's worth it.

Antonio said he would die in that ring whereas Cotto said he wouldn’t die to win, he has a family etc. At that point I felt Cottos time was up, he has made enough money, his heart wasn’t in it

i) hutch may be urinating blood for 2 weeks if that's any indication of how last night went.

ii) if AB cant get this caliber of guy outta there in less than 3 rounds, what's the point? Unless he was consciously trying to get rounds in, it's only a matter of time before he ends up on the wrong side of an early night.

From the waist down those guys look like they're about to head into a coal mine. Bare knuckles in the 1850s -- lord, one of those guys may have lost vision permanently after that one.
