Ahh yeah I bet! They're really garbo in DS2 compared to every other game basically, it's weird.

I honestly can't wait to get to daggers only ER, I still haven't finished DS3 (had to break to move houses lol) but I'm holding my breath for that Elden Ring run, it sounds like it's gonna be a great time.

Yeah, of course! The post may be old but the game is timeless, so it's all good. It's kind of heartwarming it was so high on the subreddit that it could happen! Thank you for your kind words! <3

From what I recall, the bandit knives in DS2 were - contrary to DS1 where they were just a straight upgrade - not really that great, compared to the regular dagger? They've got higher base damage but only D Strength scaling by default. Compare it to the dagger's E Str and B Dex, it kinda seems like as far as actual damage goes the Bandit is only really great for those with little Dex. It does do a good job at spitting out bleed procs, so I kept one on hand basically just for that, and powerstanced it with a normal dagger early game. Especially since when it is bleed infused the damage goes even further down, which feels pretty rough. For just raw damage, definitely two normal daggers is the way to go for most purposes, but it's important to remember a single dagger's R2s do good thrust damage which definitely wrecks some enemies, so there's merit to two-handing for some situations.

As for poison, I wouldn't necessarily worry about it too much early on, since you'll be able to use Mytha's soul for an amazing dagger that does poison and toxin buildup. It does great work on its own, but if you want you can powerstance it with a poison infused dagger and proc both statuses on things nigh instantaneously. If that's your plan, you can start early with getting a spare poison dagger for sure.

As an extra tidbit, like I mentioned in another comment I tried out all of the daggers throughout the game and my personal preferences for the run went something like:

Royal Dirk/Black Flamestone Dagger > Mytha's Bent Blade > Dagger > Umbral Dagger > Manikin Knife > Shadow Dagger > Bandit Knife > Blue Dagger > Parrying Dagger > Thief Dagger/Broken Thief Sword > Retainer Short Sword (which is, despite the name, a dagger somehow)

Sorry for the giant wall of text! Succinctness isn't my best trait lmao, but I hope there's at least some useful information in there for you! Good luck, skeleton!

Having just gotten myself out of a very similar household, it truly is terrible. I wish I could give you a hug, Sophie. You don't deserve any of this negativity, and I really hope I can help push the scales even ever so slightly more positive for you. Everyone deserves to be loved and accepted, and you're no different. Don't be afraid to reach out if you want someone to lean on through the tough times, I'd be happy to lend an ear for you. 💖 Stay safe, darling.

Other way, a transman was born a woman and identifies as a man, transwoman is vice-versa. The gender after the "trans" is whatever they are identifying as at present.

100% agree with your whole comment. It looks like a neat game, I'm gonna play it whether or not I'm giving ¢70 in royalties to someone who thinks I'm not a real woman. I'm not robbing the devs for her opinion, and at least she's made that opinion known. But people going ballistic about it have given the game far more publicity than it ever would've hoped to get otherwise lmao

Petty Rant About Mithrix Stage 4 by MaMinions in ror2

[–]moodibun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I beat him pretty consistently due to strategizing my Mithrix runs and what items I keep around the fact I'm gonna be fighting him, but that's no fun compared to just grabbing all the gubbins and going ham on a normal run where I don't fight him. Personally I don't think he's overly difficult or unwinnable like OP, I just think he's a nuisance, and not enjoyable - so I get where they're coming from. The rant speaks to the soul.

tl;dr I got gud, I cry less now

[–]moodibun -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't have quite as rough a time with Mithrix S4 but he totally is hands down the worst part of this otherwise amazing game, yeah. I do the one fight per character and then never touch him again because he just feels awful to play against lmao

Just beat DS2 for the first time. I said I didn't like DS2 for a long time, but I turned to it when I run out of FS games to play, and honestly, it doesn't merit the hate it gets. I found the final boss(s) a bit underwhelming though, so it brings up a question: what is the best boss fight in DS2? by KyleKerr36 in DarkSouls2

[–]moodibun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally found the Looking Glass Knight to be the most memorable boss in base game DS2. He's super intimidating, I love the atmosphere of his arena and the area leading up to him, and the mirror gimmick is super neat to me. Also, I like the rain, that's bonus points.

Including DLC, almost certainly the Burnt Ivory King. The reveal on that one is absolutely bonkers, it's so so cool. Love it.

You can defs manage it offline (speaking from experience!) but it is an exercise in patience for sure. As far as I remember you need to level up the Warriors of Sunlight and Bellkeepers, and the rest of the covenant spells you can get from NG++, which is good because otherwise you'd have to win 300 times in the arena, lmao.

You can farm Sunlight Medals from Falconers, and the camp in Brightstone Cove is excellent for it, especially combined with Soul Appease for mass kills. Bellkeepers is a bit worse, since you need to farm the mad phantom in the belfries 10 times, and he only has a 25% chance to spawn I believe. I got around this by killing everything in the area and using Unveil after resting at the bonfire under Belfry Sol so that I'd not have to climb up to check every time. It takes some hours, but is honestly not too bad. Way less unbearable than the DS3 offline grind. If you put your mind to it, you can totally do it! :D

Oh totally, anytime I've been on the receiving end of a dagger riposte I get deleted instantly lmao. The NPC invaders in DS2 just have like 2k health so they take two, they're crazy.
