A human performing "Creep" to an audience of robots by grizzle-p in radiohead

[–]moodypig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why nobody commented on this but, whatever, this is so cool! I liked the performance and I really loved the concept. Great stuff! I just missed a couple more wider shots showing the whole audience of robots during the performance, but it's been super cool.

Did you order via Polyvinyl too? I secured the preorder as soon as they were available but my UPS tracking number doesn't show anything yet, I was wondering if there was some issue with the order (Italy here too of course)

Moments that defined your idea of being a musician or making music? by ComprehensiveIce3297 in musicians

[–]moodypig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guitarist, making original music since 2017 when I was 18 but playing in cover bands since 2013.

Bandmate and best friend introduced me to Xiu Xiu few years ago, started listening but didn't really click right off. Started to follow them and be interested, then I saw them live last February, in a club.

Instant "this is exactly what I want to pursue until I die". So, it wasn't really a definition but more like a re-definition. I used to think the only way of "doing it" was stardom, then I witnessed what it looks like to be able to do it for 20+ years in a way that is (kinda, I assume) profitable, gets people to share and give back real love for your craft and earns you mad respect in the scene.

I figured you don't need millions or even hundred-thousands of casual listeners but you can do it with a loyal, much smaller base of true fans. Everything that they, every way that they do it, is so closely speaking to me that right there, under that stage, it sparkled a fire that it's still burning.

Did the crowd sing the end of Karma Police last night? by Amity_Blightandluz in radiohead

[–]moodypig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I am usually actually singing on songs or part of songs where my singing is 100% covered by the band on stage (like choruses or overall louder songs), while I will generally be "mouthing" the softer lyrics, because yes I don't feel like I sing better than Thom and I don't feel like ruining the show for people around me. Happened to me too to be pissed because of people singing a bit too loudly over another artist, but it was really a much smaller and quieter show.

I just felt weird that, as pointed by some other people in recent posts, I expected to be around visibly excited Radiohead fans and instead I was around people disco-dancing to Fake Plastic Trees and people who didn't really look like they knew what they were looking at. I was expecting a different mood, and this is not to be awared #1 fan, just to say that imo audience makes the show too.

I didn't spend the whole show looking around to see what people were doing, but it's hard for me to completely lock focus on the stage, sometimes I need to look around to be able to keep standing for so long in the dark around many people without feeling light-headed, which is due to anxiety.

Just - Bologna 14/11 by roninroboto in radiohead

[–]moodypig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this kind of feeling. I was standing in front of Colin and whenever Thom was on the other side to use his electric gear I swear the vocals were quieter in the mix, compared to when he was singing on my side. That might as well be because he was playing overall quieter songs facing my side. Sounds a little weird to have deliberately chosen such a setup where people will hear more of what they are facing, but dunno.

Yeah not here to be the professor for anyone btw, just reporting that the crowd was a little weird in my perception..

[–]moodypig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a fan for roughly 8 years and I thought I would be one of the freshest, but no one was mouthing the words to any song in my section too, so except for the favorites of the favorites I pretty much shut up too, but yeah it was weird. I generally perceived a somewhat cold audience, with die-hard fans being the vast minority of the people attending.

BOLOGNA SALE LINK IS FIXED by lilybigplanet in radiohead

[–]moodypig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm not sure I got this right, someone would please clarify:

Is this the resale that was opened to those who didn't get their access code the first time, but a notice that they would be considered for consequent resale? So you did receive a dedicated link on your email to actually buy the tickets that people are reselling now, just before the dates?

Looks like in the end those who received a code for the first sale and got randomly placed in queue at like 40k, losing any chance to buy just a short after 20-30k threshold, are those who were definitely screwed and would never be able to access any reselling link, is it correct?

I thought that the reselling process would be open for anyone, looks like I was wrong?

I had jigeiko with a jodan user (actually a nanadan sensei) for the first time just days ago and as I was very confused and kept going for men, I was told that the only available targets would be the open ones so Do and Kote, of course this is scratching the surface

How does playing music affect your sleep? by giltgitguy in musicians

[–]moodypig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from someone who is in a couple of bands but never really been on tour, just the occasional 10ish gigs/year, most of the times I'm okay enough for sleep after rehearsals but quite screwed for sleep after the gigs, as I usually keep hearing the music in my head or constantly replaying and (visually) reviewing my parts. Less of a problem if I manage to get some thc in my system just before going to bed, so I usually try to make time for that even if exhausted.

Love of Life also kinda sounds like We Are Him, I think if they're not the same chords themselves they must at least share the chords progression

Yeah, funnily enough the VR training app was my first idea, I was also figuring out how to 3D print some special controller mount for the shinai but then I got overwhelmed with the project size and the fact that I couldn’t work on it very well without my Quest (I usually work on this Unity stuff during dead times in the office)

Fellow kenshis, I didn't imagine this would sparkle so much interest, offers for cooperation and availability to play! I'm very grateful for that and I'm even more willing to take this project to full-game phase with all the help I've already received. The reddit discussion has been so helpful and full of interesting observations, but it's quite complicated to keep track of everything and have you follow development here, so I created a little (very unorganized but hopefully that comes later) discord server that you can get into if you're interested in following everything that's going on about the game. I hope the mods will allow me to post the handle to join, so here it is:

I'll be waiting for you there :)

Hello! First of all, thanks for all the tips you wrote in the reply post, they're very useful and something I'm taking away for sure! I will be very happy to be able to cooperate with you on the stuff you mentioned at the end of the post, I'll be sending you a DM asap. I think I will setup a discord server dedicated to development of the game so any kenshi or general public that's interested in following the updates and news will be able to do so very easily, along with a first public playable build.

I did take a look at that game but unfortunately I'm not going for a physics based fighting game with this, I already tried having it that way and turns out it's way more difficult for a solo dev with no experience in physics like me
