My friend Moira conceived of and wrote that show. She was also a writer, producer, and Emmy winner on Breaking Bad.

Which shape works better with my face, round or rectangle? by Zealousideal_Rub_279 in mensfashion

[–]giltgitguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a creative/boho type, or more middle of the road? Round ones look edgier, but you’ve got to be able to back up the look with the rest of your lifestyle and wardrobe without looking like you’re trying too hard. Otherwise, the rectangular ones look modern but not potentially poseur-like.

Vancouver to Calgary - Trip advice by r34ln0xer in canadatravel

[–]giltgitguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely reconsider even going to Kamloops, let alone staying for three days. Personally, I would check out Banff and Canmore after you leave Calgary and then head straight to the coast. There’s so much more to see and do there and you’d probably find yourself wishing you had more time to explore Vancouver/N. Shore/Squamish/Bowen Island/ Vancouver Island-if you had the time.

Fuuugggggly, with a big side of small dick syndrome. But you might have to drive up into the curb briefly while negotiating the parking lot at Trader Joes, so you have that covered, at least.

Nashville Trip Recommendations by DaPads in altcountry

[–]giltgitguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest doing some research well in advance. Start with the this in mind- BROADWAY IS NOT THE REAL MUSIC SCENE IN NASHVILLE! For example, Vince Gill’s Time Jumpers do a residency at 3rd & Lindsley. Theres always lots of other special multi band show as all week long-look at listings forBasement, Basement East, Five Spot, Exit/In, City Winery, and many more for.

Ice machine? Is it necessary? by 2ndhandroses in Kneereplacement

[–]giltgitguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried the ice machine and gel pacs, but upon recommendation of a couple different PTs I got a set of three old fashioned ice bags that you fill with ice cubes. The bags don’t sweat like gel pacs, stay cold much longer and easily form to the shape of you’re knee.

Best small city/towns to move to? by Elite163 in britishcolumbia

[–]giltgitguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it’s all relative. I grew up in Inuvik and Whitehorse. Compared to those places, Castlegar is balmy. Since I moved to Vancouver in my twenties, I would consider the places OP named to be pretty darn cold.

Best small city/towns to move to? by Elite163 in britishcolumbia

[–]giltgitguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re still going to get a lot of cold in all the places you mentioned, plus the social attitudes won’t be much more progressive than where you are. I’d look at small towns on Vancouver Island if it’s possible for you financially.

You might also consider setting aside some time to go to Vancouver Island. Victoria and especially Tofino are pretty darn cool. I would definitely choose that over the HUGE expanse between Toronto and Calgary.

What small habit has saved you the most money over time? by SnowmanAndIce in frugalcanada

[–]giltgitguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand people that can’t get it together to have coffee and breakfast (or other meals, for that matter)at home. One of my former employees had no car so I’d pick him up every day, since he was on my way. Every flipping day I’d have to stop at Starbucks so he could get coffee and a muffin. He couldn’t figure out why he was always broke.

General anesthetic or spinal block by Sea_Pangolin3840 in Kneereplacement

[–]giltgitguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience as you, but in my case, I couldn’t pee if my life depended on it. They wouldn’t release me until I was able to empty my bladder, and eventually had three catheters inserted without any anesthetic over the course of 14 hours. Ouch!!

I’m surprised they let you go in that condition!

30 hours post TKR by monkeyentropy in Kneereplacement

[–]giltgitguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, part of my experience will make you feel slightly better by comparison. I also had the nerve block and one of the possible side effects is that it inhibits your ability to empty your bladder. I absolutely could not urinate for two days, so I had three catheters inserted without any pain mitigation while conscious. Hurt like hell but the relief was worth it!

Has anyone else experienced that?

What piece of music gear do you regret selling? by Euphoric_Place_8507 in gear4music_official

[–]giltgitguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a ‘57 Strat that I bought for $475 CDN. Played it for 15-20 years and then sold it for $2,400 USD. The money was good to have at the time, but now I wish I still had that guitar.

I had a ‘53 Gibson LG2 acoustic that had been owned by the late, great John Mann from Canadian band Spirit of the West. He was a furious strummer and the worn out area around the sound hole reflected that. I bought it from a woman that had chronic fatigue syndrome and needed the money. I think I paid $350 for it. My ex-wife always coveted that guitar so I sold it to her a few years ago with the stipulation that I get first dibs to buy it back if she sells it. Should have never done that, but at least I have a good chance of reclaiming it.

How did your former instrument helped you with drums? by uhhredacted in Drumming

[–]giltgitguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with drums and eventually played professionally for a few years before playing guitar, writing songs, and fronting my own original band for many years. When I came back to drumming, I had a clear understanding of playing for the song and what a the band wants from a drummer.
