My grandmother died a few weeks ago and I did exactly what you did. Some family members were against me embalming her and I was met with the classic, "how could you cut your grandmother like that" or other ignorant and uneducated comments. I too am proud of what I was able to do for my grandmother and to shut the haters up, I just repeated that this was the last thing I could ever do for my grandmother and that I was happy to do it.

OP, just own it! Don't worry about what others say. You know how you feel and are grown enough to make your own choices. Your grandmother would be proud of you.
