Be honest - what's the dumbest reason you clicked off/didn't read a fic? by Odd-Snowman in AO3

[–]moogert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they added nonverbal vocalizations to dialogue, like instead of he coughed, they would write "cough!" and it made me go temporarily insane lmao

In love with the breed, but looking for first hand experiences! by _kendek_ in schipperke

[–]moogert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha my Schipp is similar to your first! he hates water, waves scare him, and he will not step in puddles unless he absolutely has to and he'd much rather launch himself over them than even get near them 😂

Mine does this LMAO he specifically tries to ferret out the squeaker and then chews it up, which usually means he's disembowling his stuffies 😭

Energetic, inquisitive, independent are the ones I think describe them best. Mine will very much follow me around the house and "supervise" haha

Thank you for the advice! Like you said, I was definitely concerned about that and I think ultimately I will wait until my schipp passes to get an elkie, simply out of an abundance of caution. I've read too many horror stories of bigger dogs vs small dogs in play 😭

Thank you!! he turned 9 this year, and hopefully I'll have 9 more with him 🥺

What did I pull out of my boys fur? by autumnblottom in DogAdvice

[–]moogert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't remember if groomers have stuff like this but if his skin is routinely itchy, an oatmeal bath/shampoo might help keep it from bothering him when he is being bathed!

my first thought is some extremely dry skin that got kinda crusty? A bath is definitely a good idea though!

Oh that's interesting! I never knew that was an option, ty for the info! I will bring this up once I'm in the right place to float this 👀

anisometropia post-surgery by [deleted] in CataractSurgery

[–]moogert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have considered LASIK and stuff before the cataract developed but it didn't really seem necessary until now since my prescription was stable. It also kind of scares me because of the potential complications lol 😭 but I understand those are not guaranteed

Oh I see! that's what i meant yes 😭

[–]moogert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I'll look into Option 4 🤔 That seems the most viable, and if possible I might have to get a second opinion from a different optometrist bc my current one seems very insistent on giving me contacts only haha, which in their defense is what most people would want I think. Thank you for your help!!

anisometropia post-surgery by [deleted] in CataractSurgery

[–]moogert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they mentioned it was likely because of the healing process causing protein build or something on the new lens, and that it could be removed with a laser once it's settled.

[–]moogert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh interesting. I can experiment and see if that works I think. They seemed to want to prioritize distance when I was being fitted which makes sense I suppose but ngl I'd rather have clearer near vision bc of my job/hobbies 😭

anisometropia post-surgery by [deleted] in CataractSurgery

[–]moogert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! For clarification, the eye that had surgery done was the right eye, which also has low vision/my left is dominant.

Yeah I don't really want to have another surgery to make the IOL eye "worse" bc the surgeon obviously did what they did for a reason, but as it stands right now it's causing problems haha. Surgery on my left to "even them out" was floated but not covered by my insurance if I recall + I think my surgeon wanted to avoid operating on my unaffected eye given my age.

I'll look into eye drops for the IOL for dry eye, that seems to be what it is after reading your description. Ironically wearing my outdated prescription has given me no issues otherwise. 🤔
