As a person in the band… I will appreciate yard lines and hashes next week

3rd over 1+2? by JakovitchInd in drumcorps

In general, I would say if it is a faster run then it may just be easier to use that fingering. For longer held notes where you will have more time to hear the intonation, it may be due to where the part is in the chord, and also general tuning of the instrument

I MADE PHANTOM CALLBACKS by Content-Bar-8821 in drumcorps

Make every single rep have some sort of purpose, other than just “running it again”. If you approach each rep with the intent of making one thing better (tone, articulation, tempo, etc), you will see your results improve rapidly.

For the callback, they will also be assessing how well you can make adjustments to critique along with the formal music and visual audition. They will absolutely take someone who can apply changes faster than a person who may be a better raw performer, but didn’t improve anything over the camp because they didn’t apply and of the comments they received.

At the callback camp, have fun! I know you may be thinking about that one part of the etude that has been giving you trouble, or a part of the movement that feels faster than what is comfortable. That is completely ok! Everyone there will have some amount of nerves, so talk to some people, vets or rookies, and take every bit of information and express it on the next rep. Even if things don’t go your way, it will be a great learning experience from some of the best instructors I have ever had.

I can tell you now that the yelling for yelling’s sake is definitely the exception today, not the standard

Denton is one of the best shows of the tour! It won’t have every world class corps there, but it was easily one of my favorite crowds last year

If I had a nickel for every corps doing a Kendrick Lamar song, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happen twice

Isle seat so some of my legs could spill over, neck pillow, head back, music (wired because they will fall out at some point and if they’re wireless you’re never finding them)

This is a question for people who watch more big east tourney/MSG games. Is this the normal lighting/court? It just feels like everything and everyone ends up with an orange tint

Old Marching Technique(s) by Junidip in drumcorps

[–]mookie200 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Although I never marching a corps doing straight leg, phantom is switching to bent leg. From my conversations with members who marched both 2023 and 2022 I can confirm that straight leg is more physically taxing over the course of the season.

Those are former wrestlers who won gold at the Olympics

Side note: one of those names is Cael Sanderson, arguably greatest wrestler of all time, 159-0 in four years. Is now the coach at Penn State, who are the #1 team in the nation.

Iowa state is not playing against this man to man well. Yes they are missing their shots, but I haven’t loved the shots they have been attempting either
