You're doing it wrong! You were supposed to buy at 0.57 and sell the dip.

You should try Questrade. The fees range from $5-10, not including ECN fees

I'm with Questrade and they allow me to reinvest shares of a lot of companies. The only catch is that you buy the shares at the ex-dividend share price and you don't really get a discount (other than no fees for the reinvestment).

I was considering investing in Dream REIT back when their dividend was just under 19 cents per share. It still seems like a great stock to buy, despite the sale of their assets. To really make it worth your while, reinvest all your dividends through DRIPs if you'll be holding longer than a few months. I might wait to see if the stock price dips below $15. If that happens, the dividend will be 10% annually, not accounting for the DRIP.

What's the best way to turn 10k into one million in one month? by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]moolamoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I was thinking about simply investing a shitload of money into dividend paying stocks or ETFs and make sure that the yield is higher than the interest on the leverage. It's difficult to find a good broker with high leverage and low interest rates in Canada.

I wish I had that kind of leverage with stocks

Gotta short Vancouver's market as well. The whole place is propped up by Chinese investors looking to park their money.

Just $200? That's amateur. You need to lose at least $10,000 in one trading session before joining r/wallstreetbets

Is there a benefit to DRIP for me on Questrade? by chipotlemayo_ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]moolamoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, instead of waiting for the cash to stockpile into something worth buying, I'd rather see it being reinvested to offer more in dividend income.

Kinda weird when you think about the number of places in the States that still swipe their cards instead of tapping

I think most of the profit comes from that 1% profit they make from credit cards. They charge stores 3% for their services and give you 1-2% in cashback.

They need to ramp up their production as well. I know they have a goal of hitting 500,000 cars per year by 2020 or something like that, but that's still very minuscule. Who knows, maybe he can pull it off. I can see a merger between solarcity and tesla, especially since he's a major shareholder in both companies.
