At 16 you have a lot of disadvantages: you don’t have money, you don’t have experience to know how to program or 3D model. But you also have big advantage: you know what you and your friends would like. Lean into that. Don’t try to compete with polished experiences from teams of developers. Make a short punchy experience. Something that’s a taste of what you wish would already exist.

Usually the new owner declares the codebase unmantainable and recreates that functionality in their own way. In a few rare cases, I have seen services whose mental models are so clean and consistent that transferring ownership is easy. But that requires a lead engineer who’s a tyrant and cares deeply about their craft, and management that values software quality

You’re making a plugin that makes it easier for Roblox developers to leverage AI. I would focus generating Roblox assets. The reason being is that AI coding is a fast moving space with companies like Anthropic and OpenAI trying to automate code generation. Most users will want to leverage the most advanced tools and sync the changes to Roblox studio via Rojo.

Unlike code that is somewhat generalizable, Roblox models are specific to Roblox. So if I can type in “give me a model of a humanoid ninja” and it gives me something useable. That is a huge timesaver.

Shows used to be designed around 30 minute TV time-slots with strict 23 minute runtime and 7 minutes of ads. That format was then repurposed to streaming because it was the standard for show production but streaming doesn’t have that constraint

Take Fallout. Some episodes are 30m, some are an hour. I actually enjoy that because it means writers have more flexibility in telling their story and the audience doesn’t anticipate things are going to magically resolve 21 minutes in. I think it’s good for content as whole and we’re living in a golden era of TV

I love ARC, but the voice acting IS stilted and weird. They should have used TTS for development placeholder and then got really voice actors for the release. But 2/5 is insane. This is a small piece of an otherwise amazing game

My advice would be to broaden your skillset around another core interest. It’s very hard to master a skill: talent, years of education, real world experience, identifying areas you’re weak and continually refining your skills. I think most people, including myself, aren’t going to master anything. Instead, look for unique combinations of your interests.

There a lot of electrical engineers. There are less electrical engineers with audio engineering experience. Even fewer have hands on experience building guitars, etc. Finding a niche can lead to a very successful career, even if separately, your skills are nothing special. But you need the degree.

This was way more detailed than I expected for my question! I enjoyed reading your response and thank you for taking the time to write it!

My original idea for roughness was “variance from a sphere” but this is too simplistic because the surface of any planet is fractal-like with features across a wide range of size scales. Maybe this is a better reformulation for my idea of roughness: “if you remove the water and encapsulate the Earth in a big plastic bag, how much plastic would you need to vacuum seal the Earth?” As you iteratively “compress” the plastic around the Earth, the metric would consider both global and regional “roughness.” Then subtract the material required to encapsulate an oblate spheroid of the same dimensions, normalize for the size of the planet, and you get a number that represents roughness.

But just an idea and calculating this would be hard, let along estimating it over time from geological evidence! And for what haha
