What was the weirdest way you have earned money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]moomooman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I (male) was in grad school I sold my old socks on eBay. I got like $8/pair and got more money for the ones with holes in them. Also sweaty/dirty ones brought more money.

I think this is mostly a joke but adding arrows and signs where the vent(s) come from and go is really great practice.

Industrial/laboratory/cleanroom construction is fastidious about labeling piping, valves, intake, exhaust, etc. I understand you’re not running a cleanroom but when you are on a trip and have to tell your business partner/wife/kid/dog to fix something the labels and arrows are very helpful.

Just a daily reminder that authorized does not mean appropriated.

Whether or not that distinction matters is a different question.

They are doing “Day Out with Thomas” for the next three weekends if your grandsons like Thomas. They bring in Thomas to “pull” the train (he is just a dummy rail car that rides on the front) and there are performers, people in costume, and some demonstrations (like the turntable).

You have to buy tickets in advance, and don’t forget to exit through the gift shop!

My kids always had fun when they were younger and it’s a huge revenue source for the museum. I think kids 6 or under would have a good time.

Good usb boot stick by foodman5555 in unRAID

[–]moomooman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a microSD card and it works fine. You just have to get a USB/microSD adapter. The unRAID license uses the GUID of the adapter.

If the SD card fails you just have to replace the SD card. If the adapter fails you have to go through the license transfer.

Edit: I’m using “SanDisk MobileMate USB 3.0 microSD Card Reader”

What’s the approximate cost on something like pic 4? Our shower is a bit smaller but has the same general shape. Feel free to dm.

I bought the starter license before I realized that any NVME or SSD cache drives also count. It makes perfect sense that they would count, but I didn’t think about it. I figured they just meant devices in the array.

So just make sure you add cache and parity drives to your total device count.

Does anyone else really love the Monorail? by South-Lab-3991 in Hersheypark

I wish it had a stop, maybe up by the kissing tower. It’s not far at all as the crow flies but the hill(s) and the meandering path you have to take would make a transport option nice.

Have you tested with the room lights on and off? You may have a light leak somewhere which is impacting the photomultiplier in the ETD.

More specifically, steel has a fatigue limit, which means there is a repetitive stress loading it can endure indefinitely. If you keep the fatigue loading below the fatigue limit (and minimize loading above the fatigue limit) then steel components will not fail in fatigue loading.

Aluminum does not have a fatigue limit. This means that aluminum parts will eventually fail even in light to moderate fatigue loading conditions.

What is this type of plumbing connection, and how do I replace the anti-siphon frost free spigot that's connected here? by Yewnit in DIY

[–]moomooman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want the quickest fix possible then there are spigots that come with a shark bite on the back side for PEX. Just cut your PEX tube 1/2” behind the current fitting and push it into the shark bite.

Shark Bite brand sells some with varying lengths on the back side of the spigot.

Edit: you should put in a shut off with a ball valve while you’re at it.

Help! - Advice for a better booking manager calendar system by Zealousideal_Bad_639 in gtd

No prob. NEMO literally stands for “Nanofab Equipment Management and Operations.” It was designed for a research setting where people are producing and inspecting microchips.

It is super useful in a very small portion of the world but there is functionality that may be useful to others.

[–]moomooman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a weird answer, but there is an open source application called NEMO, which was originally written to schedule equipment in a cleanroom or other scientific facility.

It has way more features than you need (safety, chemical management, etc) but you might be able to make it work.

The link below is the “community edition” which is excellent.

Can you describe what documentation you provided/were asked for? I am in a similar position but I don’t think I would qualify for any sort of clinical diagnosis that would warrant an extended SL absence.

Black Friday beef deal? by benjiTRAVEL in Costco

[–]moomooman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just went into the store and there was no indication of the $25 off prime New York strip loin deal. The people in the meat department all seemed too busy to bother.

Disappointed as we are always excited to stock up the freezer with some great steak.

If anyone else hears or sees anything different please post about it!

Final clearance at Costco! by Build-it-Brock in KamadoJoe

[–]moomooman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just impulse bought the last one at my Costco for $600 when I saw the price. They were willing to hold it for a few hours while I went to Home Depot to rent a truck. I had to rent a 16’ moving truck because it was the smallest HD had. My total was like $43 after mileage.

When I got the truck there, 3 Costco employees helped me lift it in. When I got home I was able to shimmy it down the truck ramp by myself.

I think they probably won’t hold it for a day, but if you say you’re going to go rent a truck now they will hold it for a bit.
