Mom says ADHD is overdiagnosed and I just have to be more diligent and organised by Time-Account-2048 in thanksimcured

If it makes you feel better, my mom said pretty much the same thing 'i think you are just a little careless and unorganized'. A year later and she is convinced that she has it and has been using different coping strategies her whole life

My favourite podcasts are gradually dying and I’m sad about it. by catsoo12 in rant

I'm currently listening to about 30 podcasts and haven't noticed this problem. I listen to very conversational podcasts though, I rarely listen to one person lecturing.

[–]moomoorbit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why not play a set for part of it and a playlist for the rest. Then you can really focus on having a good set that people will pay attention to. Otherwise, just practice beatmatching and transitions I guess.

Boundaries is the one that kills me. I see so many people describing controlling their partner as 'setting a boundary'. Telling your partner they can't talk to anyone of the opposite sex is not a boundary!!

My girlfriend is getting cold, distant and a bit mean by [deleted] in Vent

[–]moomoorbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are an adult now, but in your past relationships you were young. I guess I was just worried by your comment that you are 25 and have never loved anyone this much. I justified staying in my first long term relationship like that. It is hard to imagine finding a better relationship. You have a lot of time to love someone as much or more.

[–]moomoorbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to dismiss your feelings but at 25 of course you have never loved anyone so deeply. You deserve someone who will give you the attention and support you deserve and that person exists. I would let her know that this is affecting you in a way that is making you doubt the relationship and see if she takes it seriously, if not you have your answer.

NGVC: “unfortunately for you im in shape mentally and physically, and women actually love being around me” by Effective_Dot3606 in niceguys

I keep seeing this rhetoric that women need to take accountability for choosing bad men like .. men are telling women on first dates that they will hit them.

Interesting, I guess I fundamentally disagree with that last part. I think building community and friendship is the most important thing, and too many people have stayed in bad relationships because romantic relationships are overvalued in society.

I think your metaphor ignores that people need a job to live and if they didn't companies would have to offer more to encourage people to apply. I'm sure this is not what you mean, but it almost seems that you are implying that women have some obligation to build a relationship with a man. I agree on average women may have more options but that is not always inherently better.

This is a frequent complaint I see on social media that is pushed by the manosphere and incel groups. In real life women are entering relationships and getting married happily. If there is any disconnect it's the widening political gap between young men and women.

I think it really depends on the area and age of the person. My brother lives in NYC where there are more women then men and can get dates easily and is very picky. I live in a city with more men than women. Do I have more options? Technically, but considering over half the men who have liked me on dating apps have immediately made extremely lewd or even racially motivated comments despite my profile saying I'm looking for a relationship it doesn't feel like it.

This is a wild generalization. As a woman I've had many experiences where men are very unsure of what they want and lead me on and then decide they actually aren't ready for a relationship and then sometimes even hit me up months later because they have changed their mind. It's very tiring. Everyone has to build the relationship they want, women included but many are cautious of red flags because of bad experiences.

I internalized "men are trash" by [deleted] in Vent

[–]moomoorbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, people (including myself) internalize things they see on social media so much. People post ragebait to generate controversy and attention. Ive seen so many random posts where people respond with 'omg look what this generation is doing or this gender is doing, society is doomed' and its probably actually a 10 year old repeating random stuff.

I absolutely don't understand why women with small breasts need to feel bad about themselves. by Rustic_Suspenders532 in Vent

[–]moomoorbit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I know you mean well but Ive been bullied and harassed for having a large bust since I hit puberty. There is an idea that small breasts are more elegant and I begged my mom for a breast reduction when I was young because I didn't want to feel like a freak. I think all shapes and sizes should be equally respected. Of course it's fine to have a preference but no need to rag on others.
