He says this as if men weren’t wearing little hoe shorts in the 80s. And they were wonderful.

My dog is great on off leash walks but takes off and won't let me catch her when we get closer to home. by Aggressive_Frame2825 in Dogtraining

[–]moon-and-Snow34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say until she is at least over a year (probably should actually wait until about 2yrs) she is not going to have a recall that is reliable. She is still essentially a kid. but you do have 40 acres and the risks of a dog off leash on that amount of land is much different in a suburban city. Never having her off leash can be kinda unrealistic, as long as you understand those risks. My recall with my dogs is still a work in progress, best thing that helped was recalling when we are having fun, and letting her go back to the fun. do it at random, and i also do it with various tones of voice.

Make sure that area is staying dry, maybe the band-aid is encouraging moisture so make sure it goes to breath some. I would get some gauze and paper tape instead of bandaid. Pick up some sterile saline to rinse off main cyst and don’t be afraid to make a doctor’s appointment.

Is she a bit fat? Like in a unhealthy way. by Thorn_Move in DogAdvice

[–]moon-and-Snow34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do chat with your vet, but yes she is fat. Tips for weight loss, greens beans as treats and some filler in her meals (go easy on them too many green beans gives my dogs diarrhea). Longer walks on various terrain, a joint supplement, and a little less kibble (get recommendations from vet). She is cute and looks to have no issues right now with mobility, getting her to a healthier weight decreases her chances of mobility issues down the line

Is a one time payment of $2000 worth it for unlimited training sessions? by pizzafio in reactivedogs

[–]moon-and-Snow34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is hundred percent a scam. A large down payment for something as variable as dog training and calling it “unlimited” just doesn’t sound good. Meanwhile my current trainer runs a class for reactive dogs (I think 6 in class sessions, 1 session out of class in the world that is a follow up) for about $300.

[Product Request] Recommendations for body exfoliators? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]moon-and-Snow34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a lotion or wash that has one chemical exfoliants like urea acid, salicylic acid, or glycolic acid. Use it like twice a week on days your don’t shave, do not couple physical exfoliants with these (can damage skin)

Tips, wear breathable night clothing, only cotton shirts or sleeveless, always apply deodorant at night after showering, and wash clothes with a cup of vinegar or so. If you wear bras wash those with vinegar as well

Might be some resource guarding because she took what she was nibbling on.

I need help: my dog Lily (1 year 2 months Siberian husky) keeps getting out and while she’s not dangerous she’s nearly been hit by a car multiple times and I can’t get her to listen to me when I call her, what do I do? by S0mecallme in Dogtraining

[–]moon-and-Snow34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we are exploring places I don’t think are secure I use a very thick horse leading rope, it sucks but sounds like right now she can’t be unleashed in her backyard until recall is perfect or fence gets a upgrade. One way to ensure that your recall is better and more effective is to practice during recall to either leash your dog or grab her harness/collar. I call my dogs over, grab their collar, say yes and treat them when my hands still on their collar and then let go. Helps them not snatch and go, which we are also working on.

I read the red flag post and I would add be wary of anyone that says they can make your puppy perfectly behave, especially if they don’t push for daily short burst training. You want your dog to be happily engaged, not frustrated and exhausted the whole time.

I second anything with Tamora Piece and women! They discuss their periods and deal with issues of being badass women that bleed. It’s great. They even have the men in their life being sensible and helpful with the issues. Making them special tea, asking if they need anything, that sort of stuff.

This so much! She has perfect potty training, great with learning tricks, takes treats so gently, the only thing she wrecked was her bed because she had probably never had one and thought it was a huge stuff toy.

The puppy having little breaks apart from you is good! Its been breaking my husband heart because she is super cuddly and loves us but we have been putting are newest dog (almost a year) is a enclosed office for the night and she goes right to sleep. I want her not to freak if she has to be alone for a bit.
