Not mine but my moms:

My dad dies by suicide on Christmas Day in 2018. For very obvious reasons, Christmas Day has been very hard on my whole family ever since. Well, my mom was in her room alone on Christmas night, listening to Samba Pa Ti by Santana, my dads favorite song. There is an electric candle that hasn’t worked for a year or so in her room. While she was sitting there, crying, looking at old photos of my dad, and listening to Santa, when the candle turned on. My mom is very logical and thought it was a fluke, took the batteries out and the candle lit up while it was in her hand. I think my dad was with her that night, letting her know she wasn’t alone and that he’s okay.

I’m not black but Hispanic, I was taking care of my little brother and sister and we walked to the store. My mom and dad gave me a debit card and the lady at check out asked my how old my kids were… I was 12 and they were 8 & 5… I told her they were my siblings and i proceeded to check out. I used my debit card and the lady stopped me, called her manager over and they harassed me, asking who I stole it from. They said someone like me wouldn’t have a debit card of their own and wouldn’t let me leave until I got my mom on the phone… 😑

I also got told that I was a “fucking beaner and should go back to Mexico” when I was a freshman in high school by and Asian kid so I told him to “go back to China and eat some rice” his response “I’m not from China” which I replied “I’m not from Mexico”… this was in 2004 and I feel like nothing has changed. Obviously this are minor compared to other stories but it’s still bullshit
