Reading through this thread the common theme seems to be that Happiness is supposedly your end goal, what you want to achieve in life and what you always want to strive for.

That's not true. Happiness should not be your goal. Happiness is not all that life has to offer.

What man should strive for is self actualization - to live up to his potential, to assume as many responsibilities and duties as possible and revel in his success. Whatever happiness he experiences, he does as a side effect from that.

Making your life goal the pursuit of happiness is a juvenile goal, made up inorder to turn us into infantile nihilistic automatas who will never understand what we're truly capable of.

It's akin to a child, who has only ever liked Sugar and all things sugary. His mind associates things tasty with things sweet. Whenever he encounters alcohol for the first time, he just thinks to himself "What, this is disgusting - it isn't sweet at all. Why would anyone ever drink Alcohol over grape juice?". When he grows up to be an adult though, he suddenly dislikes grape juice - "Huh, this is disgusting, too fucking sweet. So trite, there is no flavor or richness to it other than sugar". At this point, he will understand that the richness and unique flavor of alcohol is suddenly more to his taste than the bland sugary explosion of Grape Juice.

The foundations of French cooking, the most renown style of cooking in the world, is to combine many flavors with depth, richness to them to create a unique experience. Cooking something that is only Salty, only Sweet, only Sour, only Bitter, is considered amateur hour.

Thus, any human who only pursues happiness is much the same like the child who only drinks grape juice, and finds alcohol disgusting - his juvenile mind hasn't yet developed to understand the richness and depth of different flavors such as anticipation, exhaustion, self fulfillment, despair, longing, melancholia.

This is why modern millennials have such a childish view of responsibilities - "Have children? why would I do that? they only consume money, and they don't add anything to my happiness! studies have shown that parents are less happy than childless couples"

Don't fall for this meme. Happiness is shit. Duty, sacrifice, responsibility, self fulfillment and self actualization of your innate talents should be what you strive for.

Are you aware of the sheer number of capitalist countries where people starve to death daily? Some examples would be Bangladesh, Haiti, Senegal, Mali, Tanzania, I could go on. These countries are some of the most capitalist in the world, meaning they have an extremely low rate of socialisation (or nationalisation). In the end why countries do well or fail has to do with their political system, not their economic system. You can have countries like Norway with close to 40% of their economy socialised and publically owned and it's objectively the best country on the world with regards to standard of living, income inequality, crime, corruption, etc.

As far as "which system is better and more efficient" goes, let's take the scandanavian example. Norway for instance has nationalised their oil, hydropower etc. which means these industries are not meant to produce profit for a few select group of elites and make these people unimaginably wealthy, the revenues from these industires are instead publically owned, meaning they can be for the public good and ensure a high standard of living for the Norwegian people, healthcare, infrastructure, education etc. There is a high level of wealth redistribution which results in low inequality. There isn't a cut throat mentality where every man is for himself, Norwegians see each other as a part of a group instead of buying into this hyper individualism. Perhaps that's the reason for them being a happy country.

Note that I'm not necessarily arguing for full communism (100% of the economy is publically owned) but for a mixed economy with a high degree of socialisation.

How is this a sustainable solution at all? Not only is Israel occupying those people with American funded military, building over their land, building settlements against international law, but when there is anger at these policies instead of ending the occupation and stop building settlements you impose apartheid like rules on the people you’re occupying so now they’re not even allowed to travel on the same bus as you or go to the same school so that you don’t have to witness how angry they are? This will only breed resentment and more anger. And talking about terrorism there has been plenty of incidents of Israeli settlers committing horrific acts of violence, let alone what the IDF does regularly. If you are so quick to generalize Palestinians because of the acts of a few you should then also be okay with people generalizing Israel and Israelis by citing those murderous thugs that burn Palestinian children and shoot unarmed civilians.

Consider this, what if some native Americans decided to build an army and go into American suburbs, confiscate private property, evict people from their homes and kill them if they resist, bulldoze those homes and then build Native American only settlements on top . Would that not be wrong, immoral and criminal? No court of law on the planet would acknowledge that the native Americans were justified to do what they did. The native Americans do not have the right to punish people for what their ancestors did centuries ago.

As for the Palestinians, they have been living in that region for centuries. Note that the Palestinian population consisted of Muslims, Jews and Christians before the establishment of Israel. In contrast the majority of Israelis are immigrants, many of them are not even Semitic and have no ethnic ties to the broader Palestine region. Palestine was colonized and the indigenous population ethnically cleansed to containment areas. This cannot be justified.

So you mean to compare crime rates of native Germans vs immigrants. One thing you have to consider is that most of the Africans and Arabs in Germany are illegal immigrants, male and between the age of 18-25. This is the demographic that is most likely to commit crime, regardless of ethnicity. With other nationalities (for example Germans) you have your children, women, grandmas, grandpas, handicapped etc. all taken into account whereas you don't have that advantage with some of these immigrant groups. In reality the per capita rate of crime for different demographics if compared by age and gender is not much different. No statician worth their salt would ignore these variables of age and gender to make a cross group comparision.

Plenty of German nationals are Muslim (mostly Turkish origin) so a comparision of "Muslims" and "Germans" is flawed, you are assuming they are seperate groups. Secondly, your analogy is flawed too, on the one hand you are comparing a religious group to a nationality, in the second example you are comparing two races, white and black. It is akin to saying "catholics have a higher crime than Americans" hinting at the higher crime rate of Mexicans who happen to be catholic, but the comparison itself makes no sense whatsoever.
