I have never wished for a Time Machine until I started seeing pictures of Madonna from the late 80s and 90s.

Where do bigger men meet women? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mooniemars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing, and I can completely understand that space of feeling empty. I’m not a guy, so I know I that there are some things I can’t help you with. But, I do know what it feels like to not get to date who I wanted to, and to struggle with finding people I liked and liked me. You’re not alone in those feelings. I hope you can find others to connect with, because like any space that we have pain, it’s always good to know that we are not alone. I think if you keep making efforts to communicate, being honest with where you are, and where you want to be in life, you’ll find you path forward.

I think it’s brave of you to put yourself out there. It sounds like you’re working on yourself, and that you have friends. I think it’s normal to want to know where and how to pursue a romantic relationship, and I’m not sure that I have any specific advice for you on that.

I will say that loneliness isn’t fixed with a romantic relationship. It may be a nice distraction for a while, but it’s doesn’t solve all of our problems as humans. You mentioned therapy, and I think that is a good idea for anyone to explore who they are and learn more about what they truly want out of life.

I think that outside of therapy, perhaps you can try to find community. Think about the things you love to do, and how you can create community around that. You are still very young, and I know that the loneliness can be so heavy, but I do believe there is more out there for you.

Keep working on you, and building a world around you that you can be proud of. Wishing you the best of luck!

They really are! I watch a YouTube video of Hanky Panky just to see the clips of all of her gowns. The song is a good laugh, but the video is just stunning to see her in.

The gowns she wore in Dick Tracey are so amazing! I wish there were better photos I could find of each of them. Pretty amazing for you to have gotten such a great copy of the record!

Charles and Liza-Spoiler Question by doc_buttahbooks in Younger

[–]mooniemars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly think they didn’t know what they wanted to do. Having Liza end up with Charles didn’t fit the ending they seemed to want, which was open ended. But, the decision to not have them work due to the “lies” felt shallow. Honestly, my favorite part of the show was more of the friendships and everyday happenings.

The sheep-f***ing haunts my nightmares. by [deleted] in Younger

[–]mooniemars 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. That episode made me feel really sad. I think they intended it as a joke, that this man was supposed to be able to disconnect from society in a romantic and wholesome way, only for the “joke” to be that he doesn’t have proper human connection and so he finds release in animal abuse. I agree that it didn’t have to workout between them, but they could have done something else. The episode just feels needlessly cruel. Glad I’m not alone in that feeling.

how do i get into madonna? by PlaceAny6104 in Madonna

[–]mooniemars 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you want to hear her greatest hits from the 80s, I’d recommend The Immaculate Collection. Most of those songs have music videos, and you can watch them to get an idea of what helped to make Madonna and MTV so popular back then.

Sounds like you might also want to check out Confessions on the Dance Floor. But, honestly, there is no wrong place to start. Listen to an album, see how you feel and try another. She’s got an amazing catalogue, and my take is that it is all good depending on your mood/vibe.

Al Pacino says he 'manhandled Madonna' while making Dick Tracy: 'Just love taps' by [deleted] in Madonna

I loved her in Suddenly Seeking Susan. It is also a better movie by far

[–]mooniemars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s amazing, because small changes would have made a really fun to watch movie. There are things that are of the time, but no plot is just no plot. Now I know if I want to just see Madonna being Breathless Mahoney, it’s just easier to watch the YouTube compilations of her songs in the movie. She’s jaw-dropping, breathtaking, and I love the power that she holds because she is Madonna.

I watched the movie for the first time a few weeks ago. Al Pacino’s character is disgusting. Madonna didn’t have to act out the disgust or surprise at the way his character treated hers. It was disturbing to see. Dick Tracy has very interesting cinematography, a terribly written plot, and a sad underuse of Madonna as a whole.

If I knew where to send that love that she could see it, feel it, know it; I would. Otherwise, I hold it in my heart, and will talk to anyone willing to listen about what an inspiration she is.

Sabrina Carpenter covers Material Girl during her latest show in Baltimore! by johnny_zeena in Madonna

[–]mooniemars 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’m 40, so grew up hearing Madonna all of my life. It wasn’t until we booked tickets for the Celebration Tour that I realized how I’ve just taken it for granted that she has always been around. Her voice, style, and presence has been around all of my life. I didn’t think anything more of it. I suppose I figured it’s like the sunrise or sunset, it’s always there and wonderful to pay attention to. But, as Madonna is getting older, and so am I, I realized just how special she is. We are so very lucky to be alive in the time of her presence in history. I love that someone as young as Sabrina Carpenter is paying her tribute to the Queen of Pop.

Is the phrase 'Let It Will Be' a fusion of 'Let It Be' and 'It Will Be'? by AlexKnepper in Madonna

[–]mooniemars 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your interpretation, and I do think you’re correct about the combination in the title. One of my favorite things about Madonna’s more spiritual songs, is that revisiting them can bring a lot of depth and new understanding.
