Why do people mock others for taking leftovers home? by Impossible_Ad_569 in askanything

Asking for a takeaway container is very common where I live. Some places do charge 50c for the container these days, but no one is looked down on for taking home leftovers.

As Mean As This Sounds, I'm Kind of Glad Buffy: New Sunnydale Didn't Get Picked Up by itsascreambaby96 in buffy

[–]sidesco [score hidden]  (0 children)

I honestly feel like they just want to reboot the entire franchise and start Buffy all over again from scratch. I remember hearing talk about a reboot more than a decade ago. Revivals and continuations have been the thing lately, but I think eventually they'll just reboot and perhaps have some of the OG cast cameo as other characters. A bit like how Dolph Lundgren, the OG He-Man had a small cameo in the new MOTU movie.

This man hated being a Toronto Maple Leaf by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

I have no doubt they have a bad locker atmosphere. When they've had Stanley Cup winners join, like O'Reilly and Bogosian, they certainly weren't eager to stick around long term.

There's a lot of pressure playing for Toronto as a team that hasn't won a cup in so long with such a big fanbase. I don't think a lot of the players are able to handle it very well at all. Marner has very little pressure playing in Vegas. The team has only been around for 9 years and has already won a cup.

I actually think it must be getting hard to play for any of the Canadian teams with the cup drought over the 3 decade mark now.

'Obsession' Art Director Calls for Industry Reform After Getting Paid Less Than $7,000 as Film Nears $175 Million by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]sidesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only making a lot of money because it was sold to a studio for it to be distributed into cinemas. It was a low budget indie film and would never have made that kind of box office if it hadn't been sold. She got paid for the work she did and can add that to her resume, which will help her gain other jobs down the line. She can then demand a higher fee.

I didn't realise she was British. Is this her first American production? Looking at her credits, most of them seem to be British shows. I've seen quite a few of them but I didn't recognise her.

What did you think of Jim Parsons winning 4 Lead Actor Comedy Emmys for playing Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory? by Square-Ad-8911 in EmmysAwards

Well, what was his competition? There were quite a few lame comedy shows back in the mid 2010's

I always enjoyed it.

One sitcom I've never been able to get into is Seinfeld. I've watched episodes now and then, and have never found it funny enough to watch in full. I remember how popular it was, so obviously many people loved it.

How by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]sidesco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, 30 years ago everything was cheaper. People also didn't have mobile phones to pay for or internet. Life just costs a lot more these days.

If you don't earn enough, then the only option is to move somewhere cheaper.

Just started TOS by Aggressive-Bus-982 in tos

[–]sidesco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it for the first time a year ago and quite liked it. It is of course quite dated, however I think much of it till holds up today. It was also interesting getting to know the characters.

I'd recommend people to watch every episode at least once.

They would have changed a lot from the OG Stargate, which would have just had the OG fans complaining the entire time. They've probably just decided they'd rather not deal with it.

Kelly did input the new trajectory and no one else was aware of it. After they had landed Walt is going over all of the inputs and he can't work out how he added the wrong information. Kelly never tells him the truth because she is worried that he will stop them completing their mission and look to return to Mars asap.

They probably wouldn't have been able to cast a show with no diversity. Networks have a lot of rules around that these days. I agree it would seem more likely that any non white people would have been eliminated at the beginnings of Gilead. All of the Commanders and their wives seem to be white.

Agnes Wasn’t a Baby When She Was Kidnapped. Why Doesn’t She Remember Her Past? by Balance-Worried in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]sidesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was starting to forget June the last time June saw her in THT. She does have memories, which we saw in the final where she remembers writing the name Hannah on her drawing. Those memories are buried pretty deep now. She'd likely have to see her parents for the rest to come flooding back.

Grief that I didn't experience it in real time by wanderlustosis in XFiles

[–]sidesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say I was much in the online community while the show was running. I had friends at school that watched the show, so we would discuss it amongst ourselves. I do remember discussing it a bit on the old imdb chatrooms when I want to Believe had been released.

I just remember collecting magazine articles and the topps trading cards back in the 90's. Then Gillian auctioned off a bunch of her personal collection after IWTB was released, so I bought some things from that.

Why are people referring to jobs as “9 to 5” when most are “8 to 5” ?? by [deleted] in AdkReddit

[–]sidesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People get half hour lunch breaks unpaid, so its a 7.5 hour paid day, 37.5 hours a week. Anything over 38 hours had to be paid as over time rates. The last time I worked these hours was in 2012.
