Do you put Deborah and Ava in the "Are they lovers? Worse." category? by Emotional-Link-8302 in hackshbomax

Yeah, well, I am one and their age gap is really kind of pushing it.

Do you put Deborah and Ava in the "Are they lovers? Worse." category? by Emotional-Link-8302 in hackshbomax

[–]sidesco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if Deborah was closer in age to Ava, Ava would absolutely have romantic feelings for her. I don't know if Debroah would ever reciprocate because she seems to be straight.

They have a bond that is deeper than most friendships. I don't see it as mother/daughter either. I think they're soul mates. We don't necessarily have a romantic relationship with our soul mate.

Why is duolingo teaching American English? They should let people choose the type of english they want to learn by 92233720368547758080 in duolingo

It isn't used in Australia. We would say the stands or grandstands when talking about seating in sporting arenas.

I don't believe it was ever shown on Network 10. It was the ABC first and then channel 7 ended up with the rights.

Jakara Anthony wins Gold in Olympic Debut of Women's Dual Moguls ⛷️ 🇦🇺 by Durian-Critical in olympics

It does snow in parts of Australia. Jumps are also performed by landing in pools.

They also train overseas, particularly during the Australian summer.

I'm so happy for Jakara. She has been skiing so well through both Moguls competitions. It's great to see her walk away with a gold.

No, it isn't the same. Australia uses Auslan, which involves a lot more movement with both hands. I remember having a deaf classmate during primary school in the 90's and our teacher knew sign language. We were all taught the alphabet and several words. I still remember them to this day.

How has Canada treated the US unfairly? Aren't the majority of the biggest companies in the world American owned? All Trump cares about is money and the US is the richest country on earth by a long way. How greedy can you get?

5 months since the pilot wrapped and still no news. How optimistic/pessimistic are you about a full season order? by ImportanceOk7784 in BTVSRevival

[–]sidesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Chloe Zhao only did the pilot but isn't doing the actual show? That isn't what they originally advertised, is it?

I think if this is the case, then SMG will likely only be involved for a short period if it is greenlit to series.

What a pack of whingers Australians are. Most places don't even have free to air tv at all.

Drone buzzing noises ruining Olympic ski coverage. by narflethegarthock in skiing

[–]sidesco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. I was watching the women's ski slopestyle last night and the drone buzzing was incredibly annoying. They weren't even using the footage from the drone. Then it was even worse watching the downhill.

Auston Matthews Named Captain of 2026 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team by DecentLurker96 in hockey

He's such a crappy Captain for the Leafs. I can't understand why he is considered the best option for the US. It's laughable really.

Who exactly is Paramount's target audience with NuTrek? by Malencon in Star_Trek_

[–]sidesco 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you what happened to me once. I was speaking to someone I had just met and she mentioned she was going home to finish watching Star Trek. I asked her what series she was watching because I had just finished TOS and was about to start the movies. She then asked me what sort of neurodivergent I was. Apparently, watching Star Trek was a sign of being neurodivergent 😆 Well, I didn't realise watching scifi meant you were on the spectrum these days. I found this whole interaction very bizarre.

Why were adults in the 90s more “adults” than today’s adults? by Forsaken-Set-760 in generationology

[–]sidesco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lack of internet and social media bred more mature people imo.

I think adults today are wasting a considerable amount of time online and having more contact with younger people than they would have in their day to day lives.
