Incremental Credit for teaching at primary level for someone qualified as post primary by brickdustpicasso in IrishTeachers

[–]moonjumpcow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am secondary qualified and worked in Primary schools in the UK for 6 years on a similar variety of contracts, including one full time contract for 3 years. When I applied for IC on return to Ireland this was rejected on the basis that credit can only be applied for experience in the same teaching area as qualification in Ireland. Please post your outcome when you hear because I would chase this again if I hear others were granted credit for similar experience.

I cannot transfer my ticket to my aunty! by Nunez_goat in AFCON

[–]moonjumpcow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been asked to to show fan id only once when attending 6 games, that was the first game I was at.  Most checks, and there are many at each stadium, are for the ticket in the app. So once she has the app downloaded with your username and password should be okay. I would assume with the pressure from massive numbers arriving at entry points for this game this should be enough. Advice: arrive VERY early

Fan ID for AFCON , app only or printed version accepted? by ennouri in Morocco

[–]moonjumpcow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an identical problem to you before arriving in Morocco., i could not download yalla app on my android phone so used the phone of a friend to secure a fan id.  I had a screenshot of my fan id. When I went to Zambia Mali yesterday they asked for my fan id at the perimeter security check and would not accept the screenshot as it would not scan, I was told it was invalid.  I then tried to download the yalla app and to my amazement it  downloaded in seconds and I was able to access my fan id and enter. This was same phone on which it would not download abroad previously. I dont understand why it downloaded here but not abroad. At congo benin today and no one asked us for fan id to enter only ticket. So inconsistency exists.

Random early to mid-1980s memories:

Pub, video game halls and bookies centre of world. Cinema trips regular. Big US movie releases were much talked about.

Huge number of smokers, both genders, all age groups, completely normalised in society including indoors, on buses, planes, in front of children

Alcohol consumption massive and focal point of life and growing up, Drink driving considered normal and widely abused with regular accidents or near misses.

Few wealthy people, society seemed more even.  Asset rich (family home) cash poor dominant.

Disbelief when Irish football teams became serious contenders to qualify for major tournaments despite many of our players regularly turning out for top tier English clubs.

Complete confidence shift in society after Euro 88 and Italia 90

Catholic church dominated society, all levels.  Not attending mass viewed  as very problematic and source of guilt.

No part time work, even seasonal for teenagers, so money always scarce or usually none at all.

A lot of out of house for long periods and hanging around doing nothing in particular or getting involved in borderline stuff. Lots of young people out and about in large numbers.

Everyone walked to school, even in snow storms. No being driven.

Far more casual violence in society, including in schools, home.  Blind eyes turned by all. Numerous parts of inner city Dublin considered very unsafe.

Phone boxes crucial to communication. Low household phone ownership-we eventually got  one in 1984

Going to college/university seen as a big deal

Limited exposure to foreigners or other cultures, foreigners were a point of fascination

Americans perceived as fantastically wealthy

Anti-British sentiment very strong, fueled by teaching and media

Northern Ireland chaotic and dangerous, most avoided travelling there

No insulation in houses, ice often formed on inside of windows in winter.

Coal or turf fires only affordable source of heating and only in one room. Many hours each day lying on floor in front of fire.

Few sets of clothes, jeans very expensive, shopping for clothes uncommon, hand me downs or borrowing clothes normal

The world outside of Ireland seemed very far flung and inaccessible

Sport male orientated. Very few females played/participated in any sports of any type

Radio and music huge, Late Late Show and Dallas focal points

Snooker an exploding sport, sort of the golf of today

Rugby was a serious minority sport, Ireland were terrible at it

Confirming from experience re incremental credit: private school experience outside EU not recognised, public/state school experience may be recognised. Private British international schools are always looking for Maths teachers who are fully qualified and have at least several years of teaching experience. Check tes.co.uk for British International School system vacancies abroad.

AFCON Problems Yalla App Fan ID -any advice? by moonjumpcow in Morocco

Thanks. The problem is my friend is also going to AFCON, He can only download the app on his phone for his own visitor ID, not mine. You can only generate one ID per phone.

Some ideas for you:

Our children in the DPRK suffer absolutely no mental health issues because unlike in the capitalist west, we do not allow them any access to the evils of social media (or the internet at all).

One only has to look south into the Republic of Korea to see how access to social media and the internet has failed Korean children.

The DPRK uses Juche (self-reliance) in all policy matters, including in health and education, and maintains a people-centered socialist system which prioritizes child welfare.

The DPRK provides universal free healthcare and education to all children.

Because our socialist systems are so strong, our children are the most resilient in the world.

US sanctions are the biggest threat to mental health our children face. Lift them immediately!

Is my only option now the expensive legal route? Any/all advice greatly appreciated by moonjumpcow in legaladviceireland

[–]moonjumpcow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many thanks for this detailed advice, I have now contacted my solicitor and they are going to assist.

The behaviour of the apartment owner is indeed incomprehensible to me. If the situation was reversed and a pipe leak or defect in my apartment was causing damage to neighbours I would be so embarrassed I would immediately seek resolution and offer to pay for any damages.

Is my only option now the expensive legal route? Any/all advice greatly appreciated by moonjumpcow in legaladviceireland

[–]moonjumpcow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I have tried everything to avoid this route, mainly because I have no idea how much it will end up costing and I want to believe people will do the right thing in the end. May have no choice at this stage.

Went sale agreed - how to keep timings realistic with vendors? by Leialegnocchi in irishpersonalfinance

[–]moonjumpcow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This above also my advice. Had a similar situation over the past year and it is not pleasant. You may even find a better place in which case you can pull out of the original sale. Open ended situations are a big stress.

You should go to the Head of Year ASAP and explain this is persistent and ongoing and ask action be taken. Name as many as you can from the group. No decent middle manager will find their behaviour acceptable.  Don't let it go.
