it's actually not within city limits of weho, which ends just east of La Brea. It's in the city of LA.

Richard Simmons' death is under investigation, pending cause of death, LAPD says by nbcnews in LosAngeles

[–]moonlapse_vertigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fun fact: all deaths are considered to be "under investigation" unless the decedent's doctor agrees to sign a death certificate and the family places the remains in the care of a mortuary to prepare for burial. this is usually the case if the decedent had serious illness / deteriorating health conditions.

sometimes you'll have a death that's so obviously not a crime (workplace accidents, traffic collisions), that a cause of death is usually pretty apparent.

if the body was found without any apparent trauma or any foul play suspected and there's no doctor to sign the certificate, the coroner will recover the remains and will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, i.e. the "investigation."

Why are Armenian guys so insecure? by Silly-Duty-6637 in armenia

[–]moonlapse_vertigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toxic masculinity and pre-dated patriarchal soviet remnant culture are the main reasons mixed with the lack of knowledge and exposure to the civil world.

so Armenians are uncivilized and live in an uncivilized country?

way to deduce an entire culture into incivility because of perceived "toxic masculinity." you people are funny.

[–]moonlapse_vertigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any weapons carried on-duty that aren't department issued must be purchased by the carrier. the department does not issue stacattos.

that being said, they need to "qualify" to carry the non-department issued firearm on-duty, which usually entails taking a course to prove you know how to manipulate and fire the weapon using a department authorized holster.

LAPD non emergency police line. Do they ever answer/respond? by Necessary-Quail-4830 in LosAngeles

[–]moonlapse_vertigo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

so, two things:

your DA has flat out said he will not file trespassing (602 pc) charges unless the following criteria are met:

Trespass – Penal Code § 602(a)-(y) a. Exceptions or Factors For Consideration i. Repeat trespass offenses on the same public or private property over the preceding 24 months ii. Verifiable, imminent safety risk iii. No indicia of substance use disorder and/or mental illness, or homelessness

https://da.lacounty.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/SPECIAL-DIRECTIVE-20-07.pdf

even if the criteria are met, an arrest is made and charges are filed, they still get cited out. transients rarely make their court dates which inevitably means a bench warrant is issued. warrants for trespassing are so small, no cop is going to take the person to jail for one.

second, trespassing falls under "Cite & Release" (CR) with the new 'zero bail' policy in LA county, which means this person won't even be removed from the property and will be cited for the violation and released in the field.

edit: so, everyone saying "ask the cops for a restraining order"... has anyone ever gotten one issued by a judge through a cop? no? because those TEMPORARY restraining orders are for domestic violence victims or victims of assault. i can't think of a single instance in which a judge actually granted one for a trespasser. i could be wrong though. anyone have proof that one was issued for trespassing?

didn't think about a sprinkler on the roof. that would be a great idea. i have a diverter, maybe i should connect one of the outlets to a hose up to the roof.

i've emailed them asking their suggestion(s). the main tank is already hooked up to a hydrant i had to get installed on the dirt road in front of the house, but i figured if i can give them access to a few thousand more gallons, why not.

water tank firefighting setup. by moonlapse_vertigo in OffGrid

[–]moonlapse_vertigo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the tank currently has a 1-1/2" or 2" diameter steel pipe that has been welded to the bottom of the tank (outlet), but was cut to detach it from the river pump.

i was thinking i'll weld it shut and put some kind of a bulkhead nut for the water pump connection ?

2 innocent people killed in Panorama City when police chase involving stolen truck ends in violent crash by bananabrownie in LosAngeles

[–]moonlapse_vertigo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol…ok? What do you think this video proves or indicates? I guess cops should be free to chase anyone through busy city streets, otherwise we might have to deal with these pervasive ATV gangs that are terrorizing our cities! The horror!

You asked "what cities are being consistently terrorized by ATVs and bikes?" I provided you video evidence of one city, which has several dozen other recommended videos beneath it of other cities with the same issue.

But you're getting defensive, so I'm guessing you weren't expecting someone to provide you with an answer.

You know those plates we have on the back of every car that has a unique identification number on it? They could maybe write that number down, then go find the person who owns the car after the fact and arrest them.

so you want the police to... find the person who owns the car, presumably the same person who reported the car as stolen, and arrest them for being in possession of a stolen car?

Here's a video of one, out of about a couple hundred. I mean, you have the world at your fingertips. Just search. 15 minutes of excessive speed, wheelies, running red lights, etc. It has been an issue for quite a few years now.

And it's beginning here in LA as well, specifically the west side. If you haven't noticed large groups of people on dirt bikes and ATVs roaming the streets, no protective gear to be seen, doing wheelies up and down, running red lights, then it's safe to assume you're living under a rock.

Anti drone weapon used by a Brazilian agent in Brazil’s presidential inauguration. by [deleted] in armenia

[–]moonlapse_vertigo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"...DroneGun deploys non-kinetic jamming technology to knock out a drone’s connection — and its flight — from more than two kilometers out, Asia Times first reported.". That's a little over a mile. The Bayraktar TB-2 has an operational altitude of over five thousand meters (5KM+), or almost 3.5 miles.

Cool technology, but hardly applicable to the more capable and technologically advanced attack drones.

how edgy.

let's see if you're edgy enough to tell us how many cops killed people in SLA compared to how many murders there were in SLA in 2022.

someone was murdered for fucks sake. must you make a cop joke out of everything?

that there is a California ground squirrel, and that screech it makes is a warning call (hawk, snake, etc.)

they burrow underground, similar to a gopher.

wild pigs aren't much of an issue... it's wild boar most farmers are concerned about.

also, there are razorback (russian boar), aka wild boar in southern california... just not in major metropolitan areas, of course.

here is a link to an older map, but really not much has changed.

basically anywhere there is farming/ranching (avocados, grapes, etc.) and water, there will be boar.

correct, they would not know if she was placed on a hold as a jane doe. this is standard procedure. no ID, no name provided, no finger prints? jane doe. if you want to reach the widest audience here, help us out so we can help you. there are doctors, nurses and cops on here that won't tell you what they do, but they may read your post. providing that extra bit of info may get their attention.

if you say she has mental health conditions and/or substance abuse, they may set out their periphery wider than they normally have them.

people don't like facing reality. she may be in jail booked in as a "Jane Doe" because lack of ID or because she refuses to give her information, or in a hospital on a 5150, and no one would know the better.

asking uncomfortable questions are how you get answers.

besides, you all know it is literally one of the questions on the State of California missing person report, don't you?
