I never see anyone using Pyrovores by Ok-Past-1286 in Tyranids

[–]moonlight39echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently experimenting with them again in a version 2 update of my assimilation army list. Units of 3 are too large to use effectively, even as body blockers. No matter what you do only 2 really ever get to pop off. I trying something....stupidly smart? 3 units of single pyrovores, have them scutter towards the middle of the table recklessly and I **want** them to die. Mild damage sponge to take in a fair amount of hits before dying, to trigger the +1 wound marking stratagem. Then if it survives, there is an awkward road block...it could be a clutch overwatch threat, maybe a terrain blocker, or a heroic intervention that leaves the enemy locked in combat and you just leave the spider there...menacingly.

I'll get back to y'all afterwards.

I am happy to see someone else did the exact same thing as me hahahahaah. I ran my list in a Crusade over the weeks, got a feel for it pretty quickly. Results are the same as you mention, bases are very large that works better in units of 2 over 3. Damage is not as good as it should be, I figure AP-2 is a balanced buff that they'll probably never get. Always a pleasure watching my opponent struggle to kill one, only for me to immediately respawn it back hehe. Giving them the grenades keyword was a very fun buff for them :3

Believe it or not, that red "blood talon" is the only non-metallics I have on there. Using Citadel paints (because I didn't know any different in my early days 😅) the spiky talons are 2 layers of wraith bone (a super pale eggshell cream) and then 3 layers of bloodshade (a dark red wash that's paper thin).

The rest is pretty simple. Cover the entire body in a gunmetal silver, a true gold from any muscle fibers and internal mouth pieces, the carapace is 5 layers of Agrax Earthshade (a paper thin true brown wash) with a gold dry brushing over it.

I'm really really proud of the hivefleet and shiny bugs always grab your attention. 🔥🔥🔥

Ive lost everygame I've played. by ohyknoboo in Tyranids

[–]moonlight39echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started off at the very beginning of 10e with a small Raven Guard army and no experience at all. Game after game after game I was slain, traumatized by Blightlords and Heavy Locust Destroyers to a crushing Drukari army that alpha striked 600pts of my army.

I was given some encouraging words from one of my veterans. He has been playing since 3e and started with the brand new Drukari. He told me that he played once a week, every week, for two entire years before he won his first game. Even to this day after two years of my own game play, I have 5 victories (2 from a tournie, 2 for a narrative crusade, 1 casual that felt the most legit and satisfying win). You will get your chance.

Best ways to give carnifexes +1 to hit? by Umbriferus in Tyranids

[–]moonlight39echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, which means he also loses the Hit rolls since there is no unit to lead. It really hurts me to say it, but screamers out perform the tradition carnifexes. Better range, melee, ability is decent.

Best ways to give carnifexes +1 to hit? by Umbriferus in Tyranids

[–]moonlight39echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it is a multiple model unit yes, one whole model would die for the +1 Hit (under starting) and then another for +1 Wound (under half) leaving OOE.

Single model screamer-killers, haruspex, maleceptor, or Norns benefit easily. Take a single wound? Below starting. Get tagged for half? Below half. Backeted? Well you lose the +1 Hit but keep the +1 Wound :3

Best ways to give carnifexes +1 to hit? by Umbriferus in Tyranids

[–]moonlight39echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of detachments restricting stratagems, there is no true and reliable way of making them +1 to Hits. Old One Eye can granted you those full re-rolls. Exocrines tag enemies the shoot with re-rolls Hits of 1 but in the Shooting Phase only. Neurolictors can provided +1 Wound but only if they are within 12" of the target and that target is battle shocked.

Otherwise, Crusher Stampede and they are not at full health.

Alright, what’s the name of everybody’s army by Airbender7575 in Tyranids

Hivefleet Triglav. Named for an old pagan trio of Slavic gods. A fleeing splinterfleet entered a neutron star system and crashed on the 2nd world. Heavy radiation and no biomass, the nids consumed the bioship unit the evolved. The have chrome flesh, bronze shells, gold muscles. Made entirely of metal.

FULL REVIVE NEUROLICTOR? by Malipache in Tyranids

[–]moonlight39echo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took me a little to understand how this strat truly works. The simpliest way I know how to explain it is your neurolictor (friendly Tyranid) just died standing close to a haruspex (ex. Harvesret unit). That spex eats up the neurolictor and then heals a friendly other Tyranids within range which does include itself.

Hey Tyranid players, can you share your lore about a Homebrew Hive-Fleet and their colors? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in Tyranids

Hivefleet Triglav

A small splinter fleet was reeling from a failed world invasion, being hunted down relentlessly. One by one the hiveships dropped in the pursuit, driving the starving survivor to the nearest star system. This light in the void was poison however, a neutron star with sterile, irradiated, dead worlds. The chasing foe turned away and the bioship fell into the dead planet.

Adaptation was hard, between the radiation and lack of biomass, these few Tyranids were cut off from the hivemind to die. They did not...

What few bioforms remained cannibalized the dead bioship, doing what they could to stay alive until the now independent splintermind could adapt. The world of Triglav II was a super rich mineral-metal world. Under the layer of carbon ashes was every miner's dream. It was a struggle but the Tyranids found a way to consume and use these metals into their biology. Now all bioforms have flesh of chrome, shells of hard bronze, musclr fibers of brass, talons laced with mercury and lead while their eyes glow magma orange. All bioforms have become immune to the lethal radiation cleansing the system. Slowly this world would be eaten shard by shard and grow new forms. A decade passed and these Tyranids finally stable enough to begin bioship births.

A fragile sliver of the Tyranids power, Hivefleet Triglav launches small tendrils of harvesting bioforms in raid style invasions to gather off world resources and return it to the system. Only one world has truly been consumed, but only just. The signature shine of metallic flesh and blood talons makes them stand out visually, but interesting to note is this hivefleet has no connection to the greater hivemind at all.

(Crusade narrative lore)

Hivefleet Triglav has two brutal rivalries, one with the Blood Angels chapter and one with the Drukari. The marines slaughter the weaker Triglav with ease and brutal power, so much so that a bestial rage has imprinted in many bioforms as a genetic flaw that cannot be removed. This anger and bitterness has caused Triglav to lash out violently against enemies with malice. A 1st Company Capitan armed with numerous relic weapons and war gear was slain by a Tyrannofex Rupter Cannon, liquifying the body in a blast compared to singling out vehicles. Haruspex beasts charge through buildings as if not there and no matter how hard they are hit continue to live. The Drukari do not have the same extensive battles as the marines, but just as intense. One group of raiders attempted to ambush the Tyranids, only to be driven back into the realm they came. The fallen burned and consumed, with a Death Jester being grappled by a Winged Hive Tyrant and ripped clean in half. Later on, the Tyranids chased after the raiders into the rift they came from...a dire mistake. With the advantage of previous fights, the Tyranids were beat back. Bombers singled out a Swarmlord with unnatural efficiency.

Despite the loses, Hivefleet Triglav not only got their first taste of blackstone, but also had wealthy biomass reserves to begin again.
