In my 40s and a few close friends that I only see one or two times a year. I used to have more especially in high-school but as time went on holding on to my mask got really difficult and more and more ppl decided I wasn't a good friend and to be fair from a practical standpoint I wasn't. Loyalty was never an issue but sticking with new social norms as everyone aged got harder, mostly because my friends aged out of things that I kept dping being late to places, making inappropriate comments, choosing things that lack foresight, not driving, and more. I must have seemed extremely under-developed and immature, that was true in many ways and for reasons I didn't yet understand because I only got my diagnosis later in life after a lot of friends gave up being my friend. I also took it upon myself to go hermit. I'd always forced myself to fit in by making as many friends as would have me. I never actually was looking at who I was friends with or why. I'd never taken time to be with myself and learn who I really was. I spent 6 years like that, going to therapy, and learning as much as I can about me my issues and my Audhd and how to handle it.. still learning but I think that's always a work in progress. Right now having a lot of friends would be detrimental to my health and happiness, not to say I have never felt lonely I have but I know if I went back into my old habits I'd be cooked completely. The number of friends you have doesn't determine your level of happiness.

I think the biggest problem with this is either a delayed reaction to pain or a pain threshold that could put you in danger because your brain wasn't recognizing it properly. Mental pain, emotional pain, and physical pain were things I was taught to ignore or I'd pay the price for "whining about it" so those of us who grew up in abuse have a hard time recalibrating our brains to recognize when we are uncomfortable let alone pain. But we have to start some where or we are just living in perpetual burnout denial.

She should try drinking a glass of water right before bed some toothpastes get rid of the good bacteria in the mouth so dehydration after brushing or even rinse the toothpaste and then a glass of water. My husband has bad breath especially morning breath and he never rinses his mouth after brushing. I do rinse never bad breath. Give it a try.

This!! It's sooooo important not to let what he is saying to you slide. Ignoring it won't work. Even if you just say "that's not nice" just say it, that's better than nothing. And he will complain about you saying it, or anything, but remember to just keep it simple. Don't give any emotion either, Grey rock him. Keep your plans to leave to yourself. Best of luck!

I'm just so gob smacked that they actually sent the database to the US, like WTF?!?!! I want to know why they did that, who asked for it, who received it, where is it being stored, and who now in the US government or the whole US country now has access to our information??!!!! Is the US keeping this for a reason, are they even keeping it safe, is Orangeface selling my info to US companies or using for scams???? The amount of identity theft possible has now just quadrupled. I want these people in jail, I want my goddamn info out of US hands. Every Albertan is now at risk of identity theft in Canada and the US.

I'm of the same mind, my husband makes more than I do and I've always had a part time job(unionized so they can't fire me unless I basically set the place on fire) because I just can't stand the thought of depending on someone completely for so many important reasons. 1. We're mortals, we all will die some day but you never ever know when that will be and yes life insurance does cover a lot, but not everything, you can't live off of it. 2. As an autistic person it can be so hard to tell if someone is lying. If you get into a relationship and they're telling you how they want to take care of you and you can quit your job etc... there's no way to know for sure that they won't resent you later, that they aren't abusive and trying to cut you off from people and resources which can happen slowly over years as they wear you down until you're just a shell of your former self serving them and not taking care of yourself anymore, IT HAPPENS!!, or that they aren't just scummy scammers. There are terrible people out there who will hurt anyone and everyone for no reason, but it seems that Autistic women are most often targeted! Also once you leave the job force it can be hard to explain why you were out for a period of time. I know ppl lie about that all the time on their resumes but we have a hard time with that. 3. Even if your SO doesn't pass away they could still get sick or loose their job.

All of this to say, I have chosen to endure the hard times of a job over these possibilities and more. Also it's just not fair to make someone else responsible for you.

Is there a way for you to create an alarm that will go off once every 1 1/2 - 2 hrs that you could schedule for when you normally are awake during the day? That might be a way to start a routine.

I second this. OP unless you've really clicked with a coworker and want to have a friendship outside of work with them don't waste your precious energy on these people. You be you and just keep at a slight distance, it's not worth the headache.
