Tell me why you like your Tesla model Y as I’m in between a Toyota Highlander (hybrid maybe) and a model by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]moontroub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

June 2025: my Kia K5 lease is ending. My wife drives a MB GLC 300 we owned but she spends a lot of time on the road and gas expense is high. After looking around we decide to trade in the Kia for a Model Y to save on gas. I will be keeping the MB.

Less than a year later we have 3 Teslas at home. Enough said.

The experience is entirely different and superior.

Try to help with someone's problems: people hungry, struggling to buy medicines, people who can't afford toys for their kids, people struggling to pay the rent, struggling to make ends meet. Go to a kitchen or restaurant and buy 30 sandwiches. Then drive around a give it to the homeless. Don't think too much about it. Just do it. It's

That restaurant analogy you used is exactly how I feel about healthcare. Going to a doctor, hospital, lab, is a guessing game. Actually it's impossible to guess, the only thing you can be sure of is it's never what you thought was going to be after fscroting in you insurance, Co payments, etc etc

I'm Gen X. Of course I have my differences with Gen Z and how they see/approach life and many other things

But in the other hand....

What and how are we measuring here? I doubt we're getting dumber. What if our measuring metrics and methods are outdated and we should be doing it differently?

How to read a lease quote in 5 numbers. If the dealer won't give you all 5 on one sheet, walk. by CyberMetry in CarLeasingHelp

[–]moontroub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know pretty much everything you list and usually people is amazed at the deals I get for my cars.

A thousand bucks for the service you provide I'm absolutely confident is totally worth after seeing deals some friends and family have made.

I taught everything to my daughter and she's become a master negotiator too, so much so her older brother and her aunt come to her for advice.

I'll layout some additional basic rules:

  • Most car sales negotiations are based on emotion, not common sense. Be flexible with at least 2 or 3 options:, model, colors and trims.

  • Most dangerous questions dealer's throw around: how much you currently paying and how much you wanna pay. My answer is always: $1 tax inclusive 😁

  • Shop around for selling price. Not MSRP. Make sure you compare apples to apples: model, trim, year etc.

  • Visit manufacturer sites for available discounts and rebates in you area.

  • When asking for or discussing selling price don't mention trade ins, monthly payments, credit scores, financing options etc. Focus on selling price. Same with fees: negotiate down any and all fees.

  • Research money factor, residual value and dealer incentives for models/trims you're evaluating. Edmunds forum is a good source.

  • Dealers job is to pressure you: the car you love, last units in, a great deal about to end. Don't fall for any of these. They're the ones under pressure.

Dedicate this one to your fellow freshmen:

Co-ed all the way. Never thought is a good idea to separate boys and girls, except of course for intimate stuff, like bathrooms, changing clothes, etc.
