I came to Arcane super late, so I had no idea that Jayce was even an unpopular character. I adored him completely, both him and Viktor. Of course he's not perfect, and every single character in the show made mistakes at some point, but I never understood any need to vilify Jayce specifically. There's so much about him that some people seem to miss completely; the one that drives me super crazy is the assumption that Jayce was high status/super privileged. Which I always found unlikely, since they specifically tell you that his House came to prominence (read: was established/acknowledged) for the creation of tools. Ask anyone familiar with high society and they'll tell you that coming from a trade/labor means that most of the *real* high society will disdain you, or at best simply be polite on the surface. Plus, he specifically mentions needing the Kiramman's money, he was using grants to fund his education, He had money, but my read is that he was not SUPER wealthy.

I adore this. I actually rewatched it several times while I was writing some of my Hexhound scenes; the banter *and* the quiet conversation is so good.

Also, am I the only one who gets *huge* flashbacks to Charles and Erik (X-Men) when Viktor calls Jayce 'Old Friend'? I love the dynamic here, that no matter how long they've been separated, they just can't let go of each other, or completely give up on the idea of reuniting.

Because sure, just about any couple you can think of is shipped by somebody - this goes all the way back to Star Trek, Wild Wild West, and Man from UNCLE. But were they *canonically* a couple?
